And so time moved on.

Shuichi and Kokichi kept on going on dates together until officially the two started dating each other. It took them a while and by the time the two announced it to their friends, they were groaning with annoyance. Kokichi didn't mind though, Shuichi needed time and that was alright. Shuichi also got to meet Kokichi's stepbrother Kaito eventually, because, despite their constant bickering, Kaito did actually care about Kokichi's wellbeing (shocking). And the two got along great.

It also seemed to be going well with Shuichi's parents too. Even though it took them a while to accept him, Shuichi said that they actually eventually supported him, even getting him a pride flag. People change for the better he supposed.

And today was the day he was actually going to meet them.

While Shuichi's parents supported their son, he never actually met them in person. He was a bit skeptical but overall agreed to the idea since it made Shuichi happy and it felt only appropriate to do so. And that's why they were going to spend a nice day, drinking coffee and eating brownies

Ouma was just pouring coffee in the cups upstairs, deciding that drinking on the balcony upstairs seemed classy enough.

The two actually talked about the idea of moving out. The memories of toxicity Shuichi experienced were certainly strengthened by him being here and Ouma didn't really like fancy living. It really did feel tedious to get around when there's a thousand rooms, some of which had basically no use.

He snapped out of his thoughts, when a knock was heard at the door. He quickly went downstairs as Shuichi opened it, Kokichi a few steps behind him.

"Shuichi darling! How have you been?" What he supposed was Saihara's mother spoke up. She had long curled blue hair and was dressed in an outfit that reminded him of the fur jacket he saw Junko wear in a magazine except blue. She hugged him, Shuichi hugging back.

"You must be Ouma-kun." He glanced over, seeing Shuichi's father. He nearly got scared at just how similar the two looked like each other. He looked entirely like Shuichi maybe a bit older and taller but the similarities were there. It was kind of uncanny. He extended a hand and Ouma shook it smiling.

"The one and only!" he snickered letting go of his hand, placing his hands behind him. Shuichi joined his side.

"Name's Hitoshi. Let's have coffee. My wife and I have been waiting to meet you" Hitoshi said pulling his wife close to him as she gave him a nice smile. But Ouma knew exactly what type of smile she wore. It looked friendly enough...

But it held no kindness.

However Kokichi held his tongue. He didn't want to stir any drama. Shuichi had just gotten better from his previous emotional issues. All he had to do was lie along with them and pretend everything is alright. After all it's just one visit.

"Same here" he said smiling as the group headed to have coffee together. Shuichi's mother immediately started the conversation.

"So Ouma-kun, how have you two met?" She grabbed a sugar cube dropping it in her teacup, all the while, her cyan eyes piercing into him.

"Well Mrs. Saihara-" he started but she chuckled.

"Oh, no need for formalities my child. Call me Lizzie!" She laughed. Ouma nodded.

"Well Lizzie, I worked for him as a maid and eventually we started hanging outside of work and things bloomed." he said leaning over to Shuichi's side with a smile, Shuichi placing an arm over his shoulder.

"A maid that's um... nice." Hitoshi said clearly not pleased with the answer. Lizzie elbowed him in the side looking back with a smile as if nothing happened.

"Well it's nice to see Saihara look so happy with you." she said comfortingly "Kaede just seemed so nice in person we had no idea how she was treating him behind the scenes." She looked down saddened. Ouma chuckled.

"Well, people are not always as kind as they appear" he spoke meeting her gaze as he drank his coffee. The irony was clear.

"Sadly not"

The group talked about boring topics, sprinkling a few jokes in. Shuichi seemed oblivious or maybe just chose to ignore the bad signs knowing they'd be leaving. They talked about plans, interests, about personal life and if Kokichi didn't know any better he'd say he was paranoid and Saihara's parents were trying to be nice.

Eventually the group we're leaving and going down the stairs. Shuichi's mother had her hand around his shoulder and he just let it happen since they were going to leave but a step or two down the staircase, while Shuichi was focused on talking with his father she leaned.

"Well it's been nice to meet you... Ouma-kun" as he took the next step he felt a slight pressure on his shoulder causing him to tip over and fall down the stairs.

He swore he saw her emotionless cyan eyes glare at him with distaste before the impact rendered him unconscious.
