"Ughhh...."
Ouma let out a groan as he sat up only to wince. He looked down to see his leg had been bandaged up and he had the pleasure of being in a hospital bed.
He's never inviting Shuichi's parents over again.
He looked towards the door only to see his lovely Shuichi holding a bouquet. Shuichi looked extremely relieved as he ran up and hugged him.
"I'm so glad you're okay! You fell pretty hard and fell at a weird angle breaking your arm and leg...Fortunetly your spine wasn't injured too bad to be debilitating" Shuichi hugged him tightly. Ouma smiled, seeing him here made him forget about the pain for a bit.
"Yeah, I noticed the cast... and the pain" he laughed. Shuichi's expression fell a bit.
"Sorry..." he muttered quietly. A tense silence. Kokichi for a moment considered his options about whether he should Shuichi what he thought happened. He quickly decided lying about something as serious as his mother-in-law pushing him down the stairs wasn't worth it, especially now that his leg and arm was of no use. He's not really gonna risk losing more.
"Shuichi... I think you're mother pushed me down the stairs" he said. Shuichi's eyes widened
"She did? Are you sure?" Shuichi asked. Ouma simply nodded. Shuichi sighed.
"Well, they're going away by the end of today if that's of any comfort." He said before smiling up at him "In any case knowing what they've done in the past, I believe you and we don't have to see them anymore okay? I don't want anything bad happening to you anymore" he gripped Kokichi's hand comfortingly. Ouma smiled.
Sadly their little moment was interrupted by Shuichi's mother bursting in.
"Oh honey! I heard about your injuries! Are you okay?! Does your leg hurt badly?!" she asked fussing over near the bed with a bouquet of flowers with a get well note. Following her was a doctor with brown hair and a sharp ahoge.
"Kinda. But it's okay I have a superpower with which I can regenerate in seconds!" Kokichi giggled putting on his mask. The woman laughed.
"Hahaha... you have such a refreshing sense of humor! You really picked a funny one Shuichi!" she said with a smile. Kokichi smiled wider.
"Yeah and Saihara-chan never told me just how nice his mother is! But who knows... that could be a lie" he said as he stared directly into her eyes, her returning the same look. Sensing this tense atmosphere, the doctor interrupted their staring contest.
"Ouma-kun will have to stay at home and not move around too much as to not strain his body" the doctor said. The mother gasped.
"But Shuichi's busy, who will take care of Ouma-kun!?" the mother said as she looked at her son. Shuichi tilted his head confused.
"Obviously I'll take some time off work to take care of him" he chuckled. Shuichi's mother shook her head.
"But don't they need you there on the force? They need you out there!" She said grabbing him by the shoulders. Kokichi couldn't deny he was getting tired of this woman.
"But who will-?!" Shuichi asked only for his mother to interrupt.
"Let me get you a caretaker! Someone to help you around the house while you're sick. A friend recommended her to us after they hired her. And I'll pay all the expenses. It will be my get well gift for you okay?" She said in a voice demanding no room for discussion. Ouma sighed
"Okay fine! Whatever...what's her name?" he asked.
"Kami Samoto." she said pulling out a number handing it to him. She then took out her phone showing him a picture.
"She actually helped us out too last year with something. You know, she's very reliable." The picture showed a Yong woman with two brown pigtails held with red scrunchies wearing what appeared to be a nurse uniform. But even so, Kokichi had a bad feeling.
"Great! I'll let her as soon as you get discharged from the hospital dearie. I promise you'll be in good hands." She smiled kindly before leaving the two of them in the room. Kokichi huffed.
He really didn't want to deal with another horrible situation.
