Jessica POV:-

The next day,  I woke up and saw Aiden sleeping beside me. I sat up and ran my hand in my hair and pushed them back as I let out a sigh. I looked at my hands and felt devoid. My heart felt nothing. A hollow feeling is filling me up,  I do feel slightly nervous and startled but no relevant emotion. Today is the first day of my marriage and here I am feeling all too empty. At least fulfill your obligations. I got out of the bed and got ready, since it's my first day, I wore something pretty. I applied a little makeup and walked out of the room. I went to the kitchen and helped Aunt to cook breakfast,  even if she told me not to but still I insisted. After cooking breakfast, I went to our room to wake up Aiden.

"Aiden.. Wake up." I called him softly. He flinched and slowly opened his eyes. He looked at me as his eyes widened. He sat up and put his hand over his face and said, "Morning.."

"Good Morning.. Breakfast is ready. Come downstairs." I said. He nodded and went to the bathroom. I leaned on the wall and closed my arms at my chest and waited for him to come out. He walked out in his casual shirt and trouser and asked, "Why didn't you go for breakfast?"

"Everyone is waiting for the newly wed couple to come together." He looked at me through the reflection in the mirror and sighed. He turned as we walked out together and went down and greeted Uncle and Aunt as we took a seat and began to eat.

"Aiden, How is the food? Jessica cooked it." Aunt said in excitement. Aiden looked at me as I passed him a faint smile.

"It's very tasty." He said sincerely. I mumbled a 'thank you' and began to eat my food in silence.

"Aiden, take Jessica out to buy the dress for reception." Uncle said. "Okay Father." Aiden said.

After eating, I went to the living room and since I have nothing to do, I called mother. I talked to her for a while and then I saw Aiden in the garden, deep in thoughts so I cut the call and walked to him. I didn't say anything and stood beside him. After spending years trying to forget about him,  I finally felt nothing. Aiden turned his head to me and said, "You are looking pretty."

"It's my first day of marriage." I replied. I lowered my head and began to say, "I'll fulfil all my obligations… do not hesitate. Besides,  you should fulfill yours too." He raised an eyebrow at me as I continued,

"You are supposed to give me a gift on our wedding night." I told him. His lips slightly parted as he put his hand around his neck and chuckled nervously, "No..  It's not it..  I.. Do have.. A.. I-" He spoke so nervously that it also caused me to giggle at his loss of words.

"Aiden, Jessica!  Lunch is served." Aunt called us as I turned but he held my arm. "Did you cook it too?" He asked. "Yes." I replied. His hand from arm moved to my hand as he held it and walked to me as he gave me a smile and said, "I vowed to hold you close… don't walk away.." I looked away and bit my cheeks as a sudden was felt by my heart. "Let's go." I said as we walked inside.

The rest of my day went painfully slow, there was nothing to do. After dinner, I went to our room and changed into my nightwear. I walked out of the closet and bumped into Aiden and he began to say.

"Uh, I was looking for you… Last night.. I-I didn't get the chance to give you the gift.. Umm.. Here you go." He stuttered and gave me a box. I looked at him, he was looking intently at me wanting to see what I think about his gift. I looked at the box and opened it. A smile crept upon my lips as I felt a feeble happiness inside me. It was a platinum ring with a heart shaped ruby. I found it too cute.

"Thanks..  It's beautiful…" I said. He also smiled and leaned in and asked, "Can I?" I looked at him and gave him a nod as he took the ring and held my hand and slid the ring in my middle finger. Now, there are two rings in my hands. I smiled and looked at him. He stoke the back of my palm with his thumb and smiled sadly. He pulled my hand close to him and kissed then slightly. Dazzled by his action, my eyes widened. He pulled away and let go of my hand. We both took a step back, I tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear and mumbled, "Turn off the lights, I am sleepy." he nodded as I laid on my side and closed my eyes and drifted to sleep.

The next day, I was sitting on the bed and watched Aiden combing his hair so that we could leave for breakfast.

"Aiden.. " I called him. He just hummed in response as I continued, "You don't have to stay home.. You can go to work. You know..  There's nothing..  To do and.. All." I trailed off,  thinking he might not be angry with my suggestion. He stopped and turned to me.

"You are right…"  I nodded and we went to have breakfast.

I readied up because I am going out for the first time after my marriage and with my husband. I wore a green poncho and a black knee length skirt along with black wedges. I applied a little makeup and wore my ring and a matching necklace as I let my hair to let loose. I turned and in that moment, Aiden also walked in. He looked at me for a second as I felt nervous under his stare.

"Is it bad?" I asked. He was dragged out of his thought as he shook his head and said, "No,  You are looking really graceful… like a rose." I smiled and replied, "Thanks." I looked at him. He was wearing a black shirt with sleeves rolled upward and a black ripped jeans as his silky hairs were slightly messy.

"You are also looking handsome." I complimented him. He smiled cheekily showing his cute dimple and said, "As always." I chuckled as we went.

I sighed deeply as I put the dress back. I put my hand over my forehead and felt extremely tired.

"What happened? Are you tired?" He asked, concerned. "I couldn't find any dress. You choose whatever dress you like." I said taking a seat.  He looked at me and shrugged his shoulders, "Okay..  If you say so." I leaned back on the chair and waited for him to select a dress. He went through a trail of dresses but found no dress to his liking. "I told you." I said with a triumphant smirk. He smirked back and replied,  "Now I have taken it as a challenge. I will get you a decent dress." He said.

"We will see." I said. He began to search for dresses as I used my phone and after that I don't know how long he came not with just the dress but even matching shoes with it.

He grinned and showed me my dress. It was an indigo floor-length gown, it was a strapless gown adorn with silver glittering beads, it's charm left me gawking as I blinked and couldn't believe he found that dress. The dress was exquisite and he even found matching pumps with it.

"Found it." He said sweetly.

"Amazing.. It's gorgeous." I said in disbelief. "I told you." He smirked. I nodded and smiled as I stood up and we brought my dress. We walked out and he asked,  "Do you need anything else?" I shook my head no and he asked again, "You hungry?"

"I am starving." I said as he smiled and nodded. We went to the restaurant, we sat down as he ordered my favorite food.

"Do you remember this place?" He asked. A sad smile crept upon my lips as I nodded and said, "I gave you a treat for helping me in my studies."

"Not just that." I gave him a questioning look as he continued, "I wish one day I have the honor of losing myself in your eyes." He repeated my words I told him a few days before my confession. I said it here? My eyes widened as my heart skipped a beat when I heard it. A sudden feeling of heartbreak filled me, I inhaled deeply and hugged my sides as I turned my head away from him. My heart felt like being torn apart and I couldn't think straight. I closed my eyes and leaned back on the chair.

"Jessica… You can do it now and forever." He assured me which caused me to open my eyes as I looked at him and leaned in a little and said sternly,  "I don't want it." He gave a look of sorrows and lowered his head. A silence fell upon us followed by the sadness emerging from him. I sighed and rubbed my temples. "Aiden." I called him. He looked at me as I began to say, "..Don't recall the past. I have left it behind me."

"Then why are you still stuck on it and not thinking about our future?" He asked. His words left me at the loss of words as I couldn't think of any answer that could satisfy both his and mine heart.

I struggled a lot to forget you.. How can I love you?
