Normal POV:-

3 years later:-

All these years passed in silence, in the blink of an eye. The leaving of Jessica left Aiden unfathomable, he could not register what he should do. He was just drowned in guilt. Like the weight of his unintentional words is so heavy that lifting it is beyond his capabilities. He tried to make his heart understand by consoling him but to him it seems like the time has stopped as he couldn’t comprehend to anything but her words that are echoing in his mind, stirring it drastically.

“I’ll try my best to forget you..”

‘What if I can’t forget you?’ He asked this question to himself again and again. No words can take him out of these mystifying thoughts that are refraining him to fall in love with anyone as he begins to feel insecure that his words can hurt anyone. His parents gone weary of seeing his son single as they are not aware of anything, any turmoil he faced.

Of course Melissa was his first and apparently his last one.

Watching their son to be successful in business and lacking any flaw, handsome features, loving personality. What they didn’t know, what his heart holds; heartbreak, what he neither explained nor showed. Like a void feeling is filling him up, pushing him in the abyss as the urge to meet Jessica for once and ask for her forgiveness reside in his heart.

..All because he was too late to recognize his feelings..

He was in the lounge, deep in thoughts then his parents came looking so gleeful.

“What happened?” He asked bewildered by their expression.

“Son, Listen. Since, you are not finding any love. We have to take matters into our own hands.” His father said sitting beside him to which he scoffed.

“Father I have told you not to force me.” He said exasperated.

“You’ll love the girl. We can give a marriage proposal to her place.” This time, his mother said excited.

“It’s ridiculous mother! I cannot live my life with someone I don’t know.” He said frustrated.

“Son, you know her too well.” She insisted which made him raise an eyebrow.

“We love her a lot and you too. After she left, you just changed and now that she is back, we can give it a try.” She exclaimed in joy.

“Who?” He asked bewildered, not being able to know which woman changed him.

“Jessica is back!” She said happily which made his heart skip a beat as his eyes widened in disbelief. His felt fluttering happiness inside of him as he couldn’t believe what his ears were hearing, he felt like his prayers were listened to and the unexpected situation seemed like God was being generous to him.

It took him a few minutes to understand what his parents were proposing and when he did, he was sure that she’ll surely reject him if they went to her place to ask for her hand in marriage. The choice to marry Jessica might be fatal for him but he doesn’t care because somewhere in his heart, he wants her. She just didn’t leave alone, she took his heart with her and is stuck at place, whether he should stop his parents himself or face humiliation from the slap of rejection from her. To clear his doubts he asked,

“What are you guys planning?” They both grinned and patted his back,

“We like her a lot, I’m sure she’ll turn out to be a responsible and loving wife.”

“You want to send a marriage proposal to her?”
”Yeah.. She is old enough and also completed her studies.” He held his chin and shrugged his shoulders.

“Do as you please.” He said as he stood up and left.

At the same time, Jessica came back and now is spending some time with her friends. In all these years, Jessica learned how to confiscate her feelings and put a strong frontage. Her eyes turned lifeless as she, who once loved partying and enjoying life, now prefers spending some time all alone with no one to see her. Considering the pain she received from Aiden as a gift as it made her sky clear that love is something she will never seek in her life. She just wants to stay away from all the abhor of this world, away from everything. As she finally made her heart cold as ice and turned herself into a woman of strong facades.

“God, woman, you changed too much.” Whined Katie putting her chin on her palm. Everyone is still the same except her.

“I also feel the same. But, I think it’s for good.” She said nonchalantly, taking a sip of her coffee.

“By the way, did you find any hot guys?” Lucy asked, interested, still being single, unlike Katie who is in a relationship with Aiden’s friend, Hadith.
"Don't consider yourself lucky if you are in love. Consider yourself lucky if you can forget love." Jessica said- surprising her friends.

“What are you talking about? Did something happen?”

“Oh, Nothing I just heard it from someone.”

“Who?” Katie asked. ‘My inner self’ she thought to herself but didn’t reply.

“Anyways, I would like to focus on work now.” Jessica said, raking the last sip and standing up.

“So.. no love?” Katie asked, disappointed. And she shook her head ‘no’ and left.

1Week Later:-

Jessica woke up in the morning, having an extreme headache from the sleepless night. She ran her hands in her hair and sighed loudly. She narrowed her eyes and let out a whimper.

She cursed loudly and stood up to take a cold shower. After taking a shower her eyes felt heavy as she can barely open them. This wasn’t new to her, she often has sleepless nights and a severe headache in the morning making her realize that she again spent the night talking about the stuff she threw away years ago and now she is just stressing herself out. Rubbing her temples, she plopped herself on the bed and closed her eyes, falling into a deep slumber, receiving a short-lived reprieve from the clam chaos in her mind.

She woke up in the evening as the realization hit her that her routine is shattered and there’s no way it can go back to normal that quickly.

She freshened herself and dressed well as usual and waked down, only to see her mother come to her. Her face lit up in happiness as she said,

“Oh, Great timing, Jessica!”

“What’s the rush mother?” She asked her mother with a smile.

“Aiden is coming with his parents for your marriage proposal!”
