It was almost noon when Yibo sat in his office, smiling and making his final preparations. He had a little present, which he lovingly wrapped himself and after the fourth try, it looked really nice. He had the most important utensil in his trouser pocket and what he wanted to say he had memorized.

Yibo could hardly wait for the lunch break and was already very excited about the reaction of Zhan.

One year the two have been together since today and this one year was just at the beginning full of deep drama. Deep points they had first because of misunderstandings in communication and then because of others. Fortunately, they went through these times together and since then, the two of them are leading a harmonious and very loving relationship. And even the colleagues who caused them a lot of trouble have now accepted Yibo and Zhan as a couple and get along well with them again.

Still, strange things have been happening lately. At first it only affected Zhan and Yibo. For example, they came out a couple of times after work and wanted to ride their bikes home, but then were shocked to discover that someone had punctured their bicycle tires.

Then their work clothes, even their work shoes, disappeared from their compartments. Which forced Yibo to lock up his and Zhan's clothes in his office. But it didn't end there. One morning Yibo and Zhan came to work in Zhan's car because it was raining heavily. When they wanted to drive home later, the polish had been scratched on both sides.

After that, it spread to the two groups and the employees. One of the colleagues had her handbag stolen. The other had her house keys stolen. And another one complained of a terrible smell in the changing room, until she noticed that someone had smeared excrement on her jacket. And it was those three employees, of all people, who took such a bitter stand against Yibo and Zhan and suddenly became a target of the unknown person as well.

But there was also a lack of working materials in both areas. From simple crayons to diapers for the residents. Again and again things disappeared and never reappeared. And so a feverish search was launched for the culprit. But their search remained without result.

It went on for almost a month until Yibo got fed up and, with permission, had a few surveillance cameras installed, of which only he and Zhan knew anything. A security guard even came specially for that. He installed the tiny cameras and gave Yibo the access data to the server where the recordings are stored. Now the culprit only had to strike and they would know who was behind it all.

But Yibo had already had a hunch. Already three months ago, a certain colleague started behaving strangely. At least from the time when Zhan rejected her and her feelings.

Zoey Meng had asked Zhan for a private conversation, after Zhan and Yibo told the colleagues that both families met last weekend. Zhan's parents and his sister and Yibo's parents with his brother, met in a restaurant and got to know each other.

When Zoey Meng heard this, she even got really angry and asked at the table in front of all the other colleagues, if this wasn't too early and when Yibo and Zhan finally want to realize that they don't fit together.

Zhan told her to stop and that he knows that he loves Yibo and thinks he is the right one. Afterwards Zoey asked him for a private conversation. Zhan didn't look very enthusiastic, since her former good working relationship was long gone, but then followed her.

However, since Zoey was only a few meters away with Zhan and was also talking loudly, everyone could hear when she said to Zhan: "Finally part with Yibo and end this grotesque relationship that will lead to nothing. Take me instead and I promise, you will never regret it. You can even marry me officially and we can have children of our own. Besides, I've loved you for almost two years now."

"And I love Yibo. I want to be with him. Even though we can't have an official marriage in China. Even though we may never have children of our own. I love him and I want to spend the rest of my life with him. My relationship with him is not grotesque or anything. It's a great relationship. We love each other, live together, respect and appreciate each other very much. And Yibo even spoils me and always treats me like his greatest treasure." Zhan replied very calmly.

"Really? I don't believe you. Maybe you' re really with him just because of his high position?" Zoey said sharply.

"Why should I? I would have no use for it. Because just that he and I are a couple, he doesn't make it easier for me at work. If I do something wrong, he points it out to me, just like everyone else. We can keep work and personal life separate. So don't talk nonsense! And another thing, I've never had any feelings for you except as a friend. I've never been interested in women, and even if I wanted to, I couldn't suppress my nature and I could never love you." Said Zhan, then abandoned her to go back to Yibo and the others.

Shortly before, their once good working relationship had changed, when Zhan found out that Zoey was secretly talking bad about him behind his back. She complained that Zhan wouldn't care about his colleagues any more and would only run after Yibo. Zhan was so angry about this that Yibo had a hard time calming him down again. But from then on, Zhan avoided her and stopped talking to her.

Now Yibo suspects that maybe it's some kind of revenge from Zoey. That she is behind all this. He hopes it's not, but his gut tells him that only Zoey could be responsible. And as soon as something happens or is stolen again, the cameras will record it. And if it really is Zoey, then it' s just bye-bye Zoey.

Since Yibo and Zhan have decided to give each other only a small present for their first anniversary and they want to exchange their presents in the evening, but Yibo just can't and won't wait that long anymore, he had already finished everything and was watching impatiently the clock on the wall. Tick tock, tick tock made it loud and seemed to get louder and louder until the time finally came. Yibo grabbed his present for Zhan and almost stormed out of his office to pick Zhan up for lunch.

Yibo had planned this day for a long time, now nothing should go wrong. He went to the living area to see Zhan. Zhan sat at the big craft table and prepared a few games for the afternoon. Yibo slowly approached him and so did their colleagues. They hid in the hallway and waited for their cue. Everything had been planned down to the smallest detail by Yibo.

"I'll be done in a minute, Yibo." Zhan said with a smile as Yibo approached him and kissed him on the cheek.

"Okay ZhanZhan, I'm waiting." But Yibo did not have to wait long. Zhan was ready just two minutes later.

Zhan wanted to get up to go to the canteen with Yibo. But Yibo didn't let him get up and handed him the gift. "I'm sorry, ZhanZhan, I couldn't and wouldn't wait." He said.

Smiling, Zhan took the small package and carefully unzipped the wrapping paper. He opened the package with a note inside. " Look at me, ZhanZhan." It was written on it.

Zhan turned his head to Yibo, who knelt in front of him and held a small box out to him. Yibo opened the navy blue box and said, "ZhanZhan my dear sweet love, we have been together for exactly one year today. A year in which my feelings for you have grown almost immeasurably. And above all, I realized that I never want to be without you again. We have gone through and experienced a lot together in this one year and have grown even closer together. So close that I feel like I can't breathe, just by thinking that you are no longer with me. I don't only want to spend the past and the present with you, but also the future. And I hope and wish that we will start together as husband and husband, into our common future. I love you more than anything and for me you are my life. And therefore, my beautiful ZhanZhan, I ask you, will you marry me?"

Already before Yibo had even begun to speak, tears were running down Zhan's face. He wiped the tears from his eyes, nodded and then said: "In any case, I want to marry you. I love you too, Yibo, and I don't want anybody else by my side but you."

The next moment the colleagues came clapping from their hiding place and even brought a cake. They put it on the table, watched them exchange their engagement rings and congratulated them joyfully. And together they sat at the big craft table in the living room, ate cake together and celebrated a little that Yibo and Zhan, today are not only a couple anymore, but fiancées who want to marry soon. The only person who did not celebrate with them, was Zoey.
