POV Yibo

After their weekend together at the hotel and their first night together, Zhan and Yibo became inseparable. Yibo even spent his nights completely with Zhan after they returned from their team excursion.

He had only driven home for a short time, happily told his parents that Zhan and he are now in a relationship and that he wants to stay at Zhan's place for the time being. His parents were very happy for him and took a very positive view of their relationship. But they also warned him to be careful at work and not to get caught.

Three weeks have now passed and the two of them try to keep a certain distance at work and limit themselves to their working relationship. Nevertheless, there were watchful eyes, which of course didn't miss to notice that there is something between Yibo and Zhan.

Still, Yibo was surprised when he suddenly had to appear at the management of the residence. There, the director told him that it is known that he and Xiao Zhan are not only a couple, but probably also live together. Shocked and a little bit frightened, Yibo said: "This is our private matter. At least as long as it doesn't affect our work. And that's not the case."

" In itself, we have nothing against relationships between our employees. However, things are a little different with you and Xiao Zhan. Because you just got that promotion, and you could be accused of being unprofessional. Xiao Zhan could be accused of taking advantage of his relationship with you." She explained to Yibo.

"But that's bullshit. I am not behaving unprofessionally, nor is Zhan taking advantage of our relationship. What have we done wrong? Just because we fell in love, doesn't mean we're unprofessional."

"I know this and most of the colleagues know this. However, there are employees who see it differently and we have to take their complaints seriously. And if necessary, we must remove Xiao Zhan from the workplace." Yibo froze the blood in his veins when he heard that.

"But he hasn't done anything wrong. He's working hard and professionally. He works harder than most in this field. Besides, I even had to slow him down because he even helped out in the care sector besides his jobs, and even did that partly by himself while his colleagues sat in the garden drinking coffee and smoking."

"I am aware of this, because I read all the protocols. But I also know, for example, that Xiao Zhan was properly trained by the previous manager of your care-giving work. He taught Xiao Zhan everything he knows, so he should be able to do this work."

"That may be so. But if something happens, the insurance company won't cover him."

"Your previous employer has taken care of that as well. He even wanted Xiao Zhan to train as a caretaker. But he fell ill, and couldn't train Xiao Zhan anymore."

"So Zhan wanted to be a caretaker?"

"So Xiao Zhan wanted to do both. Work in the care sector, but also continue to provide social services."

"Zhan never told me this."

"Now you know. If we can keep Xiao Zhan in your area, maybe you can do what your previous one couldn't. You can train Xiao Zhan."

"I'll talk to Zhan. Just please, don't take him out of the area just because a few co-workers are against our relationship. You've known me my whole life, and you know I'm a professional. And Zhan shouldn't be punished just because we fell in love."

"I don't want to punish him either, and I really like Xiao Zhan. I know how hard he tries, how lovingly he treats the residents, and how hard he works. Limit your actions at work to the minimum and try not to come to work together every morning. I know this is hard, but it's best for both of you."

"Mn. OK. I'll talk to Zhan right now."

Frustrated and a little sad, Yibo went back to work and called Zhan to his office. He told him about the conversation with the director, and how she advised both of them to limit their contact on duty to the bare minimum.

Zhan reacted calmly and with composure and told Yibo that he had already expected something like this. "No more lunches either." He said quietly.

Although Zhan said only what was the logical consequence of limiting their contact at work, these words hurt him very much. The thought that they couldn't even have lunch together now, hurt Yibo very much. He had to fight violently against the upcoming tears and nodded. "For now we must do it this way." He said at last with a golf ball big lump in his throat.

"And Zhan, I know that my previous one wanted to train you in care. I'd like to take over."

"We'd better not do that. I think it might otherwise be misunderstood as well." Zhan replied.

"ZhanZhan, let me train you at least."

"No, Yibo. I want to keep my job and I don't want you to get in trouble. Let's just stick to the instructions, OK? I'd better go back to my work now before any more chatter."

Yibo watched Zhan leave his office, speechless. And even though Zhan had tried not to show it, he could see how hurt Zhan was and how much it was hurting him. And that made Yibo so angry that he would love to beat up the colleagues who complained.

He didn't need to hear the names to know who was complaining. These employees, whom he openly criticized for their lack of work ethic, were just waiting for an opportunity like this.

During the lunch break, Yibo saw Zhan go to the canteen with Zoey Meng to get something to eat. Seeing the two together was not easy for Yibo. He felt his jealousy make the blood in his veins boil. Because he knew something, which Zhan didn't.

It was not so long ago when Zoey Meng confessed to him that she had feelings for Zhan and wanted to try to get closer to him.

Of course he trusted Zhan and knew that he would certainly not get involved with Zoey. But still he was furious with jealousy.

And when the two of them came back from the canteen together, Zhan stopped in front of Yibo, winked at him and handed him a pack of hot food. "For you, boss. Enjoy your meal. It's bought with love." Said Zhan and Yibo had to wipe the grin off his face.

" Thank you, Xiao Zhan. I'll eat it right away." He replied.

With his food, he went to his office, opened it and got a big smile as he read the words consisting of green beans: "Love U Bo." He took a picture of it with his cell phone and began to eat. Even though he wasn't really hungry and would have preferred to eat with Zhan.

In order to be able to tell Zhan his feelings in a written way as well, he took a material order form and wrote down some materials to be ordered. He stuck the sheet on his clipboard and wrote on an extra slip of paper: "Love u too, hon." And then he tucked that slip of paper under the order sheet and went to Zhan.

"Zhan, I'm just doing the orders, is there anything that you need?"

"Mn. Yeah, a few things for crafting."

"Well, please come over here for a moment so we can go over it quickly." Zhan nodded and went to Yibo at the big craft table.

Yibo pushed the clipboard towards him and said, "Please check the order list for what you need and then write it down."

Zhan took the clipboard, lifted the order form and read the words Yibo wrote him. Zhan then wrote, "We can manage that." And then wrote down some materials that he needed for his work.

And despite the watchful eyes of his colleagues, no one else noticed what Yibo really wanted to show his boyfriend.

That afternoon, the two of them set off on their bikes, 5 minutes apart from each other. Yibo waited for Zhan at the bridge behind the bushes and as soon as they were out of sight from Gusu Lan and possible Watchful Eyes, they rode next to each other and home to Zhan. And as soon as they entered Zhan's apartment, he kissed Zhan and said to him, "No matter how long it takes, we'll get through this together and we'll get them all to accept our relationship. I won't let them separate us."
