-19- A family
POV Yibo
When Yanli landed in Beijing by plane the next evening, Zhan and Yibo were already waiting for her. Before that, they were at Yibo's parents' home helping them to prepare the room for Yanli and her son. Since Li is only three years old and moves a lot in his sleep, he still needs a children's bed, which Yibo and Zhan bought at a second-hand shop.
"I hope we can buy a bed like this for our child one day." Said Yibo, after paying for the bed and carrying it to the car.
"So you want a child?"
"I want at least two ZhanZhan. Preferably a boy and a girl, like you and your sister And the boy should always protect his sister."
"Well, my sister has always protected me because I'm younger than her."
"Yes, but our son will be older than his sister. And he will protect her from anything and everything if we can't."
"Ah yes. Okay, we'll see what the future brings." Zhan replied with a giggle.
And when they built up the children's bed together, Yibo's parents watched them and asked if they were already practicing for later. Yibo turned to them and nodded. "Absolutely. We will have two children." He explained.
"I am looking forward to that." His mother replied.
When they had greeted Yanli and Li, they immediately took them home to Yibo's parents, because Li urgently needed sleep and Yanli also needed to relax. During the drive, she told them that her husband came home and asked where she was going and when she told him she was moving out, he wanted to forbid her.
Although he had left her, he did not want to let her go. He had stood in front of the door and blocked the way for her, he said he still loves her and just because he had chosen his colleague doesn't mean he would give her up for that. Yibo just got mad when he heard that.
Yanli finally had to call the police so that they could help her, to leave the appartment. And as soon as she was sitting in the taxi, her husband tried to force the taxi driver to stop by cutting him off again and again with his own car. Yanli and Li were scared to death. But they were in the lucky position to have a very good and experienced taxi driver who brought them safely and healthy to the airport.
"We are glad that you are here now and don't worry, we will all protect you from him. After all, we are a family." Yibo said when Yanli finished telling her story and sighed.
To cheer Yanli up a bit, Zhan told her that he had decided to take the job at the publisher. "This is great, A Zhan, you are finally doing again what you were born to do. I still remember how you used to go through and check my notebooks and books. Sometimes you even suggested improvements that would give me a better grade on an essay. You' re an editor with heart and soul." Yanli explained.
"But he was also a great social worker. Especially because he is so creative and the residents never got bored with him. But I also think he made the right decision." Yibo said.
For Yibo it was not as easy as he pretended. He really missed Zhan at work and kept wondering what kind of intelligent and cool men Zhan could meet in his job. Could there be someone better than him and would Zhan leave him for this other guy?
"Hello Yibo? Babe? Are you listening to me? We are there." So Zhan yelled and pulled Yibo out of his thoughts. Yanli had already gotten out of the car and was stretching in front of it.
Yibo grabbed Zhan's cheeks with both hands and looked deep into his eyes. "Don't ever leave me for any cooler or smarter guy." He said to Zhan.
"What? What are you talking about? I would never leave you for anyone, Yibo I love you and we are getting married in a few weeks. So don't worry." Zhan replied and kissed Yibo. "I love only you, understand?"
"Mmm. I'm sorry. It was just a stupid thought that came to me."
"It's OK. But, Yibo, if you're worried, we should talk about it.
"Maybe later. Now let's take your sister upstairs. She needs to get some rest." Returned Yibo and squeezed Zhan again.
Hai Kuan came down and took the sleeping Li to carry him upstairs. Zhan pushed Yibo, grinned and said, "Doesn't my nephew look beautiful in your brother's arms?"
"What are you up to ZhanZhan?" Yibo asked confusedly.
"Nothing. Just making sure we're all one family."
"ZhanZhan, first of all, you and I are getting married. Yanli needs to get a divorce, and then, then you can start matching them up. I think my brother likes your sister and I think he would be a good father to Li. But, first, there's our wedding."
"Yes of course, you're right Yibo. And our wedding is more important right now. After all, it's only a few weeks away."
"That's right, my sweetie."
Yibo had to smile at Zhan and his plans to match Yanli with his brother. Yibo knows very well that Hai Kuan is very interested in Yanli and even once said, he regretted not meeting her before she met her husband. Therefore, Yibo also believes that the two of them will probably not need any help from Zhan as matchmaker.
Still, he finds it cute how excited Zhan gets when he talks about the future of the two. But for Yibo there is nothing more important than his future with Zhan at the moment. Especially the wedding. He can hardly wait for the day and is already looking forward to it so much that he oftentimes falls asleep with a big grin on his face when he thinks about the fact that it's one day less until the wedding.
And even though Zhan always pretends not to be excited yet, Yibo knows what is really going on in Zhan. Not only because he can feel it, but because Zhan often talks to his best friend on the phone and tells him about the wedding all the time. And once he heard Zhan say: "I can't wait to call Yibo husband, but don't tell him that. I want him to think I'm not excited about it yet." Yibo smiled at this and thought it was just cute how Zhan tried to hide his nervousness from him.
When the two of them were back home, they just took Yanli upstairs and shortly after they left, the two sat together in the living room and talked about Yibo's thinking, Zhan could meet someone better. Zhan laughed and said, "I don't think there is a better one than you. It took me 28 years to find you, so I think you are the only one for me. I want only you and no one else."
"And are you looking forward to our wedding?" Yibo asked, even though he secretly knew the answer.
"Of course I am. I think I told everyone at work today about our wedding I am really looking forward to it. I'm even practicing my new signature."
"Really? So you'll always sign with Wang Xiao Zhan?" Zhan decided to take Yibo's name.
"Sure, I've gotten so used to the idea of being called Wang Xiao Zhan that yesterday I accidentally introduced myself as Wang Xiao Zhan."
Yibo laughingly took Zhan in his arms. "How could I be afraid that someone would take you away from me? It seems your heart and head are full of me."
"Mmm, totally. You are my life and it's never gonna change, Yibo. So stop worrying. I love you and I only want you."
And Yibo agrees. To him, Zhan is his life, and without him, he can't imagine his life. Yibo already admitted to himself that he had fallen for Xiao Zhan the first time he saw him. When Zhan greeted him warmly on his first day as a manager in the elderly care sector. He just couldn't realize it at that time, because love, was something completely new for him as well and caught him ice-cold.
At that time Yibo had expected everything when he switched to the new area. But he did not expect to meet the love of his life there. The man with whom he will and wants to share the rest of his life. He also never thought that he would ever propose to a man and think about adopting children. All this was only possible because he met Xiao Zhan and fell in love with him. Through him, he learned what love really is. And he is not willing to give up on that love again.
For the rest of his life, has not only a symbolic meaning for Yibo! He is completely serious about it.
