Chapter 18

"Where's Zhi Hong, Zi Yu and the twins?" Nana asked. It was night and everyone were already seated at the dinner table. Except them.

"They said they were going out on a date." YiLin said.

"On a date?! Four of them?!" Nana roared angrily.

"Don't they know its late already?! It's dangerous for kids to be out at night without adult supervision!! Oh my gosh what if something happened to them?!" Nana screamed.

The boys ate on calmly.

"They must be..at a hotel...and-" Da Cong was smirking and was about to say something kids shouldn't hear.

"Shut up, you! They're only 12+!" Yuan snapped angrily.

"You shut up!" Da Cong shouted.

"Both of you shut up!" Nana screamed. Her eyebrows was scrunched up with worry.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Nana rushed to it and came back a minute later with Zi Yu and Jia Yee.

"Where were you guys?" Ting Xin asked.

"Zoo. There were bears and tigers and-wait. Where's my sister?" Jia Yee asked, looking around.

"Out with Zhi Hing at a hotel, I suppose." Siao Lan laughed.

Qian Xi stood up from the table and said quietly, "I'm going out to look for them."

'I'm following you." Yuan said.

"No. You stay behind. If they come home before I find them, call me." Qian Xi said.

The moment Qian Xi stepped out of the house, a figure was seen running towards them.

It was Zhi Hong and he was carrying a large bear. But Jia Jia was nowhere to be found.

"Zhi Hong! Where's Jia Jia?!" Yuan shouted.

"I lost her in a crowd! I've been searching for her since just now! I can't find her...!" Zhi Hong cried.

"Why didn't you call us?!" Yi Feng exclaimed.

"My phone died!!" Zhi Hong cried again.

"Argh I have no time for this." Qian Xi snapped and started running out. At the moment, rain started to fall heavily.

"Qian Xi, wait!" Nana called but Qian Xi didn't turn back at all.

Qian Xi ran and ran all over the place but no Jia Jia was to be found.

-1hour later-

Qian Xi was thoroughly wet and soaking. He was getting frustrated and worried for Jia Jia.

"ARGHHH! JIA JIA WHERE ARE YOU?!" Qian Xi shouted, bending down a little. He heard a sob and quickly followed the sound. He found Jia Jia, drenched, curled up somewhere and crying.

He went to her and touched her hand. She was freezing cold!

At the touch, Jia Jia looked up, surprised. There were tears forming in her eyes and when she saw Qian Xi, the tears fell.

"Shhh Jia Jia. You must have been so afraid...its okay now..." Qian Xi hugged Jia Jia tightly.

Suddenly, thunder sounded. Jia Jia jumped in Qian Xi's hug.

'Ah...she's afraid of thunder. No wonder she's crying.' Qian Xi thought.

"Come here." Qian Xi mumbled, covering Jia Jia's ears with his hands. Then he put his forehead on hers and whispered calming words, as if she could hear them.

He covered her with his already drenched jacket but well, at least he's a gentleman.

When the rain stopped, Qian Xi pulled Jia Jia up from their position but Jia Jia fell down because her leg fell asleep after an hour and a half of sitting there.

Qian Xi chuckled because Jia Jia looked so helpless. He bent down on his knee and grabbed Jia Jia's hands. He wrapped her arms around his neck, then heaved her up.

"Hang on tight, Jia Jia!" Qian Xi said.

"..Yes. Qian Xi, thank you for today. I feel so useless...even though I'm older than you, you have to take care of me. I'm sorry." Jia Jia apologized.

"It's alright. After all, it is the gentleman's job to take care of the ladies. When I get home, that Zhi Hong's gonna get an earful!" Qian Xi exclaimed.

"Don't scold Zhi Hong. It's not his fault I got lost. The crowd seperated us. He must be worried too." Jia Jia said, lying her head on Qian Xi's shoulders.

It was so warm. Qian Xi couldn't help but feel all tingly inside and he wondered what feeling this was.

"Jia Jia. I'm feeling this tingly butterfly feeling in my stomach. What is it?" Qian Xi asked.

"..I don't know. I have it too." Jia Jia answered, just as clueless.

They kept silent for a few seconds before bursting out into laughter.

"I'm sure its nothing to worry about." Qian Xi chuckled, heaving Jia Jia up a little higher.

"Yeah. We'll figure it out by ourselves slowly." Jia Jia smiled, hugging Qian Xi tightly.

They reached home in no time and were bombarded by questions of where Qian Xi found Jia Jia.

Zhi Hong also kept repeating his apology to Jia Jia.
