Chaptperb twenty-one

My eyes fluttered open as the sun shown through the window, I felt arms shift around my waist realizing Mark was still sleeping, i never really got to enjoy the moment of us cuddling because I was either in pain or I woke up without him, it felt nice to wake up with him with no worries or pains

But there was still one pain stinging me in the back of my mind, but I ignored it so I could savor the moment
Mark rolled over onto his back and pulled me with him I laid my head on his chest and he rested his hand on my back, still asleep

I closed my eyes and listened to his heartbeat, finding comfort in the sound
I wish I could tell him how I feel but, I don't wanna loose him, not now, I don't want him to leave me
I frowned slightly but a smile quickly returned to my face when I felt Mark's hand slide under my shirt and up my back, he started rubbing circles with his thumb and I felt goosebumps form on my skin

I opened my eyes too see mark looking at me with a tired smile

"Mornin" I spoke barely louder than a whisper

"Not yet" Mark whined with his deep morning voice as he dragged his hand out from my shirt and rolled over facing away from me

I rolled my eyes and hit him with a pillow
"Maarkkk" I spoke dragging it out in a whiny manner
"Get up" I added also dragging out the word hitting him with the pillow again but he didn't budge

I started repeatedly hitting him with the pillow hearing Mark whine a 'stop' but I continued until he rolled over slightly and pushed me, causing me to loose my balance and fall off the bed with a thud
I rubbed my arm and sat up hearing low laughs coming from Mark, I shot up and crossed my arms

"Your not even gonna ask if I'm okay?" I questioned expectingly giving him an angry look

"Nope" Mark confirmed in between laughs, wiping his eyes and laughing again
I frowned and dropped my arms to my side

"Oh you little-" I spoke as I jumped back on the bed, tackling him and straddling his waist while punching him playfully

"Oh shit" Mark laughed out trying to push me off him
He brought his hands to my sides and began tickling me, my punches halted as choked laughs escaped my mouth

"O-okay OKAY I sur-render, s-stop" I laughed out trying to get out of grasp but he didn't stop until there was a knock on the door
I looked at the door not moving until Mark spoke

"You uh, you gonna get that?" He asked poking my side

"I'm getting it you dick" I said rolling my eyes while crawling off him, I got off the bed and was walking to the door when I felt a pillow hit my back and Marks laughs filled the room

"Mark I swear to god" I threatened turning back to look at him when another knock sounded at the door, Mark pointed towards it as if I didn't hear it, I flipped him off and opened the door to be met by Avery

"Hey i heard a loud bang like something fell, everyone alright?" She asked peeking in the room, I jumped slightly when I felt an arm rest on my shoulder

"Ethan fell off the bed" Mark explained while laughing

"YOU pushed me off!" I defended pushing him off me, Avery chuckled and continued speaking

"Okay well if your up to it Bird told me there's a small horde of infected near by that needs to be taken care of before more join them and we have a bigger problem if you wanna come, we're leaving soon" she explained looking between me and Mark

"Yeah we'll be right out" I told her with a smile she nodded and walked away with a wave

I closed the door and walked to my bed, grabbing one of my shoes and sliding it on, I stood up and walked to my bag bending down and looking for some stuff I needed

"Ethan I think you should stay here" Mark spoke from across the room looking at himself in the mirror
I stood up and looked at him

"What?" I questioned resting a hand on my hip, the other one was holding my gun

"I think maybe you shouldn't go, because of your foot and stuff" he said again facing me

"Do you not think I can take care of myself?" I asked as this was not the first time he's acted like I was incapable of helping myself

"No no, I'm not saying that I'm just saying like you could get hurt because your already hurt and you might not have someone that's gonna be right with you" He spoke again, his words infuriated me
He really thinks I can't take care of myself

"I don't need someone to be with me, I'm not a fucking kid, I can take care of myself, and what if I get hurt huh? That's not your problem you don't run my life, I was doing fine before I met you, and I'll do fine now, nothings changed" I snapped at him going back to my stuff and pulling out some ammo and shoving it in my back pocket

"Ethan-" Mark spoke But I cut him off

"Fuck off Mark" venom laced the words as I looked at him and shook my head before storming out the room to the others
