Chapter twenty-nine

We walked in silence, I could tell Mark was lost in thought but I didn't ask him what was wrong

"Ethan...do you maybe think your going a bit too far with this?" Mark eventually spoke up causing me to freeze in place

"Nope, I don't think I'm going far enough" I stated slowly starting to walk again

"Ethan-" he began but I cut him off, spinning around and walking up to him

"No don't 'Ethan' me, do you know how many people I've lost to them? So many Mark..Tyler was just the last straw for me" I spoke my voice cracking slightly as my eyes glossed over, Mark took notice and concern laced his features

"I-I didn't know..I'm sorry"

I nodded and lowers my head as he explained himself, trying to focus myself back on the task ahead when I felt Mark cup my cheek in his hand

I looked up to him and he offered a warm smile

"I want you to have your revenge..I truly do but, don't let it consume you remember that we're still in the apocalypse and just cause you can kill people doesn't mean we should"

I listened to his words with an open mind but I couldn't bring myself to give up, we've come so far and all I need to do is kill who controls them and everything's over

I won't let them kill someone else I love because that person will be Mark and I'm not sure I can take that

I settled my thoughts before looking back at Mark

"I know, I know but I have to stop this"

He nodded and dropped his hand to his side, knowing I wasn't going to cave, I slipped my hand into his and pulled him along

I began to let my mind wander to what would happen after we win, me and Mark settle down somewhere
Maybe find a group of people we can call home

We'll be so happy, Mark will love me and I won't have to worry about anything no more, I was pulled out of my thoughts when squeals were heard very loud around us

Me and Mark both jumped at the sudden sound, I dropped Marks hand and settled my hand over my knife holster

I looked around to find quite a few infected that somehow managed to surround us, I glanced back at Mark who gave me a slight nod before charging after one of the infected

I followed suit, grabbing the bat that now sat hanging out my backpack, I readied myself as an infected neared I smashed the bat into the infected's head

Cracking opened the skull and throwing it to the ground in the process, I pulled the bat back up and resting it on my shoulder as two infected limped towards me, I swung the bat at the closer infected knocking it to the ground but not killing it

I readied the bat again, bashing in the head of the other infected, it's rotting brain flung out and it fell to the ground

The other infected wriggled on the ground, I bought my foot up over its face and slammed my foot down finishing it off

I caught my breath and turned to look around, more and more infected seemed to appear out of nowhere I looked over at Mark as he finished killing one of them

"There's to many we gotta go"

Mark directed as he grabbed onto my hand and began running through the woods past the infected

I followed him even when he let go of my hand, infected's surrounded us but the woodland path stayed clear except one infected, Mark readied himself to stab it but I quickly pull out a shiv from my other holster

I closed one of my eyes and aimed, throwing the shiv which landed itself right through the eye of the infected it tumbled to the ground and Mark looked at me surprise but kept running

"Hell fucking yea!" I celebrated, surprised myself that it worked

"Holy hell how'd you do that?" He questioned looking at me with a proud smile

Before I could answer Mark looked forward and yelled

"Shit!" He shouted, I looked forward as well noticing a steep cliff that led down into a shallow stream, I tried to stop myself but my foot slipped on the soft mud that layered the ground

I fell back, grabbing onto Marks leg to try and stop myself but that only caused him to fall as well.
We both tumbled down the steep slope and into the shallow water, I heard Mark groan and I lifted myself up off the ground

I turned my attention towards the area we fell from, no infected came near the edge, I sighed in relief before flopping down onto my back

After a few second of laying down I stood back up, looking over to where Mark lay on the ground

His chest rose and fell quickly

"Are we alive?" He questioned I chuckled and stood over him

"Nope" I answered popping the 'p' before extending my hand to help him up, he took it and I pulled him to his feet he wiped his shirt and glanced around

"Well if we're dead that means I can do this"

I tilted my head in question before I felt a push and I fell back down into the water causing it to splash up and into my face,I heard his deep laughter ring out as I rubbed my eyes of the water

Finally clearing my vision I looked up at him, he look like he was about to pass out from laughter

"Oh you little shit!" I threatened, propelling myself off the ground and tackling him to the ground

Water splashed around us and both of our laughs could be heard now, I went to hit him playfully but he gripped onto my wrist before I could

He flipped us over pinning me to the ground with my arms above my head, I tried to wiggle out of his grasp but failed, he smirked and leaned in real close to my face before whispering

"I win"

I returned his smirk before thrusting my leg up, hitting him right where it hurts

He toppled over and I jumped up quickly, watching as his face morphed with pain and I laughed loudly at him

After a while he composed himself, standing up and the smirk returned to his face

"I'd run if I were you~" he sang out, my eyes widened and more laughed escaped my lips as I turned on my heels and began running down the stream with him close behind

It's funny seeing y'all saying stuff about supernatural cause I was actually gonna write a supernatural type book at some point

This book isn't even supposed to resemble supernatural at all but your making me see how it does lmao
