Tae swallowed hard, keeping his head down as he followed the commanding stride of the CEO straight into the grand executive office. He had no idea that the legendary, intimidating head of the company was actually Jeon Jungkook-the very same man from the sidewalk the previous evening.
"Do you need something, sir?" Tae asked humbly, executing a polite, formal bow toward his new boss.
Kook turned around, a sudden flash of recognition crossing his features. "I remember you! You're the one who was confronting Lisa last night."
Tae froze, a wave of panic hitting his chest. "Huh? I... I'm sorry, sir. Who is the Lisa you're talking about?"
"La Lisa, my girlfriend," Kook clarified, his tone surprisingly soft compared to his usual arrogant reputation. "Listen, I want to apologize for what she did to you guys. And please, don't call me sir. I'm only a year older than you. Just call me Kook. On behalf of my girlfriend... I'm really sorry about last night."
Tae waved his hands frantically, completely shocked by the billionaire's sudden humility. "No! No, no! Please don't apologize to us, Mr. Kook. You didn't do anything wrong. Honestly, I should apologize too for the things I said in the heat of the moment."
Kook chuckled softly, the corner of his lips tugging upward. "Alright, let's call it even. Now, the real reason I called you in here: I want you to be my new personal secretary."
Tae's eyes went completely round. "H-Huh? Secretary? Me?"
"Yes, you," Kook smiled, leaning back against the edge of his mahogany desk. "My previous secretary just went on a sudden three-month medical leave. Since your OJT internship lasts exactly three months, and your academic file says you're incredibly hardworking with a stellar background, I want you to step into the role. Don't worry about the compensation either-you'll receive the exact same full salary as a standard employee here. Deal?"
Tae blinked, his mind spinning at the incredible opportunity. "Ah... okay. Okay, Mr. Kook."
"Perfect. You can set up your things at that desk over there," Kook pointed to a sleek workstation situated right inside the executive suite. "From now on, that's your territory."
Nodding quickly, Tae gathered his personal belongings and organized his new desk. He was just settling in when Kook's deep voice broke the quiet room.
"Tae? Would you mind making me a cup of coffee, please?"
"Yes, sir! Just give me a few moments," Tae replied automatically.
Tae hurried to the executive breakroom, carefully brewing a fresh cup of premium black coffee. He walked back into the office, carrying the steaming mug toward the desk where Kook was deeply engrossed in a stack of complex business proposals.
"Mr. Kook, here is your coffee," Tae murmured, handing it over.
Kook reached out, but instead of taking the mug, his fingers slid across the porcelain and wrapped firmly around Tae's hand.
The moment their skin friction met, a sharp, electric shock seemed to ripple through the air. Kook's heart gave a sudden, violent thud against his ribs. Slowly, Kook tilted his head upward, his gaze locking onto Tae's startled, wide-eyed expression. But Kook's eyes didn't stop there-his gaze dragged downward, completely nailing itself to Tae's glossy, naturally pink lips.
Kook unconsciously bit his own lower lip, trapped in a hypnotic, breathless trance. For five agonizingly long minutes, neither of them moved.
"Mr. Kook...?" Tae whispered, his voice trembling slightly. "Mr. Kook, are you alright, sir?"
The sound of Tae's voice snapped the tether. Kook violently pulled his hand back, quickly grabbing the coffee mug and burying his face back into the business proposals. His heart was hammering so loudly he was certain Tae could hear it.
