Y\N POV

The thunder rumbled through the sky. It did not terrify me as I was accustomed to it.

I just blankly listened as the outside view was blocked from me.

I sat on the cold, cemented floor with my knees pulled to my chest. The chains clanked together as I tried to move my broken left arm.

I didn't even feel the pain. I was numb to it months ago.

The sky kept roaring as if suppressing the rage on my behalf. The patter of heavy raindrops could be clearly heard across the whole palace.

Suddenly, a loud noise echoed through the hall, indicating someone's presence.

I scooted back in my cage, expecting the worst. But I was soon relieved when I saw a servant carrying a tray of food.

Leftovers, to be exact.

I stayed in my place, not moving an inch, while the servant unlocked the cage and came inside.

It was normal for these servants to bring stale food and leftovers for me, but today was something different.

Normally, they would just come and go. They never greeted me and never even looked at me.

But today the servant was looking at me. Staring at me.

I could sense something strange.

Holding the eye contact, he kept my meal on the ground, locked my cage and again went out of the hall.

Something's definitely wrong.

I quickly went to my food and searched thoroughly through it.

Like I said something was wrong. Because there was a small piece of paper hidden under the rotten vegetables. It read:

YDAER EB

I don't know how, but I instantly understood what was written.

BE READY

I didn't understand the peculiar note first. It took me hours and hours of concentration but still I couldn't get any lead.

My questions were answered when another servant, came running towards my cage and quickly unlocked it.

He rushed to me, but before I could do anything he grabbed my hands and started unlocking the chains.

I was shocked at his actions but couldn't find the voice to oppose him.

After unlocking the chains off my hands, he hurriedly unlocked them off my legs.

When I was completely free, he grabbed my forearm and forced me up.

Without signalling me, he ran while still holding onto me. I couldn't understand anything but kept following him.

I stumbled also, not used to this much exercise but tried desperately to keep my pace with him.

Once we reached the exit of the hall, he poked his head out of the large heavy, metal door, to check for any signs of danger.

I sensed that there were none because he led me out of the hall. We passed through various passages in the palace and at last came to a halt, when there was a small, wooden door in front of us.

He pushed open the door and before I could even react, he pushed me, rather threw me out of the door.

I landed on my hands, on a heap of dirt.

The rain pouring, soaked all my clothes and hair.

The servant from behind shouted, "You are on your own now."

With that he closed the door shut behind him. I tried to stand up but my hands slipped because of the sticky mud underneath me.

Plus my broken hand wasn't helping at all. I tried again, this time succeeding with stumbling footsteps.

I had a lot of questions in mind but I put them aside for now. Because only one thing was clear in my mind right now.

I was free.

And I needed to escape.

With that in mind, I started running, ignoring the furiously pouring rain.I ran to the only place I felt both safe and unsafe at.

The forest.

I kept running, disturbing the peaceful silence between the trees. Because of my frantically running, I didn't notice how deep I had ventured inside the forest.

The floor beneath me shifted when I felt a pair of hands on my waist out of the blue, pulling me to an abrupt stop.

I screamed, but it came as a muffled voice as a hand was placed on my mouth followed by a deep voice,

"Shout and I will kill you."
