Chapter 20

Four's POV
Tris had a gun in her mouth, tears fell from her eyes.

I remembered the boy I met in the hall, the way he easily ended his life. My heart pounded so loud that I could hear the beats thumping against my chest.

"Tris, baby." I whispered, holding my hands out to reach her, my actions slow and calm but inside, I felt the need to yank the gun away from her hands and embrace her.

"Four, they did something." She whimpered, slowly pulling the gun out to speak, "I can't be saved. Take care of Tob-"

I interrupted her, "Tris, baby...please drop the gun."

"I can't...they're forcing me to do this beca-" she stops mid sentence, her blue-grey eyes reflected the emotion I was feeling. Scared. "I'm sorry."

"Tris?"

She turned the gun on me. "Kill me Four, please. They're forcing me to murder you...kill me before it's too late."

"Never. I love you too much to let you go."

"Four, it's too late."

She shot the bullet and I dodged it. I pounced on her and we fell on the floor. I gripped the gun from her grasp but she kicked me in the groin. Pain flares through me.

She pushed me off her and landed on top on me, she gripped her gun; I didn't let go, our hands were gripping tightly on the weapon.

"I love you Tris," I whispered. "We been through so much, you and I. But we can't stop fighting. I know it will be tough, to see our child grow up in this shitty world, yet we survived this far... We can't stop fighting Tris. If you let go of your sanity, then I'll still respect you for hanging on so long. "

Tears glistened in her eyes, "I can let go?" She croaked.

"You can, but you won't...you're too strong to let go."

She blinked and a tear fell on my check. " I will fight this, I'll survive. I won't give up." She muttered.

She stared blankly at me for a moment, I thought she was gone except she blinked once again. Her beautiful blue-grey eyes shined strength.

"I love you." She stated, kissing me on my lips, I kissed her back. She pulled away, "let's finish this." She added.
