I walked in the house and upstairs to check on DeeDee and Shaleese. DeeDee was in her bed, sleep and Shaleese was in the corner reading her history book. It was about 1:30 in the morning, I know it's late, but thankfully there was no school tomorrow.
"Hey Leese, thanks for watching DeeDee, again." I pulled out my wallet, giving her $300.
"It's no problem. Look, she came up with some really cute hairband for lil babies....." She showed me a few drawings, obviously with Leese help and.......they were different, but pretty nice.
"These are good......" I mumbled going through the sheets of papers. I gotta show my sister these tomorrow, these could be a new prototype.
"Yeah, I'd even buy some of them for myself." She threw her bookbag on.
"C'mon, I'll watch you go home." I called her brother, to come stand at the door.
Shaleese was 17, but had been watching over DeeDee since she was 14. Leese lived across from me with her brother and mom. Zameer was mines and Jay's personal photographer for any shoot in the last eight years, so I knew Leese pretty well and I trusted his lil sister with my daughter. That's why I pay her good, she always looked out for DeeDee, like an older sister would.
"Yo......wassup?" Me and Shaleese walked down the hall, to the front door.
"Leese coming now....." I got to the front door and I could see Zameer standing at his door.
"You aight......? I heard what happened." He asked, I rubbed my hand over my face in frustration. Tonight at my cousin's opening was a complete disaster.

I was embarrassed for her, when Summer came out completely sideways. If I was one of these niggahs out here......I'd put down on Kalima if I wanted to. "Yeah......she on that shit again....." I muttered.
I watched Shaleese cross the street, her waving back at me. "You want me to come over? My cousin just came back from service....."
"Yeah......c'mon. I'm bout to roll one up." It was just Shaleese, Zameer and their mom living at the house, so she would be good.
I hung up and watched Zameer playfully gave Shaleese a noogie. She pushed him back playfully and squealed, when another guy stepped up next to him. I left the door open and walked back upstairs to check on my daughter again.
I fixed Deedee's hanging leg and pulled the blanket over her again. Turning on her constellations night light, I left her room door slightly open.
