It had been a few years since Oskar had been defeated. He had gone to jail, much to Rose's dismay. She had believed that there was still some good inside him. Sure, it was probably deep, deep, down there, but she believed in the best in everyone.

They had held a funeral for Rae, which brought lots of tears. And just like she would've wanted, Rose made sure to have a statue built of her, so she would last in history for centuries to come.

Viper and Nova stayed with them for a few days before heading back to the Society. Olympia decided to stay in Old Corona with her cousin, aunt, and uncle, where she believed she'd be happiest. And Splash had decided it'd be best for him to stay in Old Corona-- he had never been comfortable in the Society, even with his sister there. He had written a letter to Myth to explain it all, which she surprisingly understood and accepted with open arms. Since then he had stayed with Kenny, who had always acted like a big brother to him.

Varian had surprised Quirin with telling him that his wife had returned. They were many hugs and tears at that moment, and it was very heart warming.

Rose had some trouble explaining to her mom all that had happened. She knew for a fact that Elisha had known about Oskar, but had kept him a secret from Rose. In the end, Elisha had apologized that she had basically shut Oskar out of the picture, but said that she was only doing it for the safety of her daughter. Rose forgave her, and they ended on good terms.

Currently Rose was leaning against the trunk of a tree, watching as the sun sank below the water. It created a vibrant array of oranges and pinks, and was quite beautiful. An open journal sat on her legs, a quill in her hand as she wrote down the adventures that had happened throughout her life. She got a dot of ink on her chin as she tapped the quill against her face, deep in thought.

Four years. It had been four years since they had last defeated Okar. Varian had turned twenty-two just a few months ago, and now Rose was on the verge of her twenty-first birthday. It was crazy on how quickly time flew by. It seemed like just yesterday she was a thirteen-year-old girl, walking the streets of Corona when she ran into a young boy with a blue stripe in his hair.

"There you are!" a voice called from just a few feet away. Rose lifted her head up to see Varian. He was in his new outfit, which he had gotten for his birthday. It was a gray-blue shirt, with the sleeves rolled up and a long sollar. A dark brown vest went over top, with a very buckled on the right side. His apron was underneath his belt, which had a few pockets here and there, and his brown boots went over his gray pants. To top it all off was his short, brown gloves and the goggles that always sat on top of his head.

Rose, herself, had gotten a new outfit too as a pre-birthday present. She wore a long-sleeved, button up gray shirt, with a brown corset wrapped around her middle, a few belts attached to that. A half-skirt went over a pair of dark gray shorts. The half-skirt was green with darker stripes, and had a ruffle trim. She even had some new, tall brown boots.

A warm smile came across Rose's face. "Hey! We're you looking for me?"

"Well, when your girlfriend suddenly disappears, I would think that the first thing you'd do is go looking for her."

Rose giggled. "Sorry. The sun was starting to set and I wanted to get to my writing spot before it got too dark."

Varian plopped down next to her. "So this is where you've bee going whenever you said you needed a break?" He glanced over at the journal sitting in her lap. "What're you writing?"

"Just about the crazy adventures that we've gone through throughout our lives." She turned her head to face him. "Not many people get to go through what we did."

"Or have to go through what we did. Granted, there were some good things."

Rose sighed. "But there were some bad things." She glanced over at a rock that didn't sit far away, near the coastline of the ocean. She smiled sadly at it.

Varian noticed what Rose was staring at, and put a hand over hers. "Life isn't fair. You get good things, but sometimes they come with strings. There is no such thing as a truly happy ending. Only an ending that can be as good as it gets. And I will try my best to give you that ending."

The small smile stayed there, until Rose turned around to look at Varian. Her eyes widened at the sight of what was in his hand.

A ring.

Rose gasped and put a hand to her mouth. A small smile tugged at the corner of Varian's mouth.

"Rose, will you marry me?"

Tears swelled in the corner of Rose's eyes. "Yes! Oh, yes, yes, yes!"

Varian chuckled and gently took Rose's hand to put the ring on her finger. It had two gold bands that crossed over each other, studded in tiny diamonds, and in the center was a marquise diamond. It glittered in the sunlight, that was just about to sink below the ocean's surface.

Rose lunged at her new fiance with a giant hug, in which they both laughed. The sun shone over both of them, before fading into nothingness, leaving them both in the dark. But they didn't mind. Nothing mattered at all, except that they had each other in that moment.

They would have the best happy ending that they could.

A/N:

Couple things:

1. I FANGIRLED SO HARD WHEN WRITING THAT ENDING AHHHHH

2. The ring that was mentioned is actually my dream ring

3. I can't believe that this story is over! It was such an amazing journey, and I can't thank you all enough for sticking with me till the end. I know I took so long to get out chapters sometimes (okay, lets face it, ALL THE TIME), but I'm just a huge procrastinator and it's one of my biggest flaws. I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

This story is actually the quickest I have ever gotten a story done. If it hadn't been for you guys wanting more, I might've still been on the first book. Or there might've not even BEEN a second or third book!

Few people I'd like to acknowledge:

yinthedemon

Oh, how to start.

FluttershyFizherbert

Again, thank you for always being pretty much first to comment on my chapters. You have helped me get through this a lot. And Musica is such an interesting character who adds a lot onto the story. Thanks <3

mr-bananarama

Thank you for reading through my stories and giving me the wonderful character, Nova. I always enjoy reading your comments. <3

And last but not least,

kara-raine

Even though you haven't been there from the start, I was actually quite impressed with how fast you zoomed through my stories. So thank you for that. And I always appreciate someone who leaves comments <3

And honestly, thank you all for being there. You've really helped with my self-esteem. I never really knew if my writing was good or not, or if this story line was cringy. Wattpad just really helped with this in general.

Thank you all <3
