I was so glad that Dianna had let me stay at Theodore's house. During our initial discussion he had managed to finish up an entire bottle of whisky and It was probably not the only bottle he had finished that day. After seeing the mess he was in she agreed to let me stay with him whilst she continued with her list of orders, she gave me a list of things to do, telling me she would be back in a few days before leaving me alone with a very powerful and very upset fairy. I was really starting to question her judgement. It was really her fault what happened next.
That night, Theodore passed out on the sofa and I managed to find a bedroom to sleep in. After he had got over his hangover he started catching me up to speed with how this whole situation had happened. I felt so sorry for the girl, she really had no clue what she was getting herself into. One night whilst we were chatting by the fireplace Theodore had an idea.
"Why don't," he said taking a drink from his coffee "Why don't we go out and find Luna, with your help we should be able to find her in no time."
Luna, where had I heard that name before? I knew that name from somewhere, had Dawn mentioned it sometime? I frowned, all this drama with Theodore had kept my mind off Dawn for the last few days but I still wasn't over the fact that she had left. Wait, that was it, Luna was Dawn's sister! Maybe Dawn hadn't left me for Biron but was going to find her sister. But if her sister was the curse's unfortunate victim...
I sighed, things had just got a whole lot more difficult. If Luna was Dawn's sister then she might be in danger as well...
"So what do you think?" Theodore said, staring at me.
I blinked; I had completely zoned out. "Yeah, that sounds good" I said, not entirely sure what I was agreeing to and immediately regretting saying that when Theodore's eyes lit up.
He jumped up from his seat, spilling his coffee on the rug, he waved his hand over the spot and the stain disappeared. Then he shook out his wings and strode out of the room.
"Hurry up!" He exclaimed, poking his head back around the doorframe.
I carefully placed my mug down on the side table before getting up and following Theodore down the corridor, utterly bewildered about what was happening. I found him in the map room, pulling a large backpack out of a cupboard. I helped him get it out and he placed it in my arms and started to stack camping equipment on top of it.
"Where exactly are we going?" I asked, peering over the untidy pile I was holding.
"Wherever Luna is." Theodore replied. "Now hold this for me will you?" He placed another metal cup onto the already precarious pile.
Just as we were about to walk out of the door and out on our adventure I remembered Dianna, she would be expecting to pick me up any day from now, I ran back inside and found a small scrap of paper, "Sorry, Di. Theodore and I have gone off for a bit of a wander" I wrote. "Don't worry, I'm definitely probably fine, see you soon!" I pinned the note to the outside of the door and ran to catch up with Theodore, that should at least prevent Dianna stressing out about me being kidnapped.
The air was filled with excitement as we started our walk out of the forest, Theodore was walking quickly, a spring in his step and his eyes twinkled with anticipation, after days of him stressing in his house we were finally off to save Luna and I couldn't wait for my first proper adventure.
After a day of walking I wasn't quite so excited. I was tired, thirsty and my feet hurt. Not to mention the fact that we had only just realised that we had forgotten to pack a tent, or any food. In fact the only thing we had packed seemed to be maps, unfortunately none of the maps were particularly useful and it seemed like the only map we hadn't packed was the one we needed. We continued walking until we had cleared the forest and were out on the open road. We came to a crossroads and I stopped, taking off my backpack and letting it drop to the ground.
"Theodore? Do you have any clue where we are going?" I asked, bending over to catch my breath.
"Well... I was kind of hoping you would know your way around." Theodore said quite cheerfully "I haven't really been out the house since the last time the curse happened."
"How long ago was that?"
"Oh, probably only 2000 years ago."
I sighed and sat down on the floor, staring at him "You have no idea where we are do you?"
