Chapter 15 ~ The Terrible Two Make An Appearance

Friday came all too fast. I had called Kate for advice on what girls like to do when they hang out. She told me they like to eat, watch movies, and gossip. She didn't give me exactly what I was looking for, but I thanked her for the help anyway, before heading to the store to buy snacks.

I bought a bunch of food and drinks, but I was still worried that it would be wrong and that I would end up ruining Maddie's night. I also didn't know whether I was supposed to leave them alone or not. I guess I could have asked Maddie, but that would be awkward, and she would probably tease me for it.

I still had an hour before I had to go pick the girls up, so I dropped onto the couch and turned the tv on. I flipped through every channel, but nothing caught my eye. I grabbed the remote once again, and shut the tv off. I then grabbed my phone to see if it could entertain me. When I unlocked my phone, I saw that I had twenty new followers on twitter. I figured that I haven't gone through them in a while, so I opened the app. I look through all my followers, folowing some back, and ignoring others. It always creeped me out when 40 year old guys and girls follow me. I've had some bad experiences with that age group that I do not wish to relive. Mainly, though, it is the way they talk. And most of that age group doesn't support my sexuallity.

I realised that I had spent over a half an hour on twitter, and figured I should probably be getting ready to pick the girls up from school now.

I could see all three of the girls waiting as I pulled up to the school. Maddie sees me quickly, and points to my truck. They begin to head over, and I get to see Sierra and Nani up close for the first time.

Sierra was pretty for a 11 year old girl. She had thick-rimmed glasses, long, brown hair, and a pretty smile. She also seemed to be slightly more confident than the other two. I quickly realized that she is most likely the leader of the group. Then comes Nani. She is rather small, and has black, wildly curly hair. She seems like she is rather shy.

I quickly snap out of my first impression judgment when I realized the girls have already reached the truck. Although Maddie usually sits uo front, she decided to sit in the back with her friends.

All three pile in; Nani first, Sierra in the middle, and Maddie on the other end, farthest from me. I turn around to face them, and introduce myself.

"Hi girls. I am Maddie's cousin, Niall." I give them I friendly smile. I said cousin, because I wasn't sure what Maddie had told them yet, and I didn't want to ruin anything.

"Hi!" They both chorus with shy smiles back. I turn back around and start the truck back up.

All of the sudden, I hear Sierra's loud whisper. "Maddie, your cousin is hot! Why didn't you tell us?" I looked into the mirror and saw that Sierra was leaning over Maddie; I wasn't meant to hear that. I simply chuckled to myself, thinking that this one might be more wild than my own.

We finally make it home, and I unlock the door before letting them all in, me trailing behind.

I figured they would want some alone time to 'gossip' or whatever, so I headed to my room. I could hear Maddie taking them on a tour of the house before three pairs of feet ran up the steps. They passed my room and made it straight to Maddie's.

After about an hour of letting them hang out on their own, I walked over to Maddie's door and knocked.

"Come in!" I hear her yell, so I open the door. They were all sitting on Maddie's full size bed, with a laptop in the middle of them. I could see pictures of One Direction on the screen. I just rolled my eyes before looking back at the girls.

"Hey girls, I just wanted to see if anyone wanted to help me make cookies. And by help, I mean a lot of it because I have never made them before." I say, looking at them.

When I was at the store, I knew I needed to have something that we could do together, that wouldn't seem lame, because I wanted to get to know them better.

Both Sierra and Nani looked towards Maddie for their answer. She turned to them both.

"Do you guys want to? Cause it is fine with me." Maddie says and shrugs.

Sierra says "Yeah," and the same time Nani says "Sure," and they both start laughing, while Maddie closes the laptop.

I look around and try to remember how we got into this situation. Currently, Maddie is on the floor, covered head-to-toe in flour. Nani has an egg in her hair, and flour on her shirt; and Sierra has somewhat-mixed batter all over her face. Me? Well, I have flour in my hair, batter splashed across my shirt, and some egg on my face.

How we got to this point? Well, I had put Maddie and Sierra in charge of mixing what Nani and I were measuring. I gave Sierra the flour I just measured, and she dumped it into the bowl without warning Maddie. When Maddie kept mixing in that second, the flour flew up and covered a good part of her face. She turned to Sierra in mock rage, before taking the bowl, grabbing the yet-to-be-finished batter, and threw a glob at Sierra's face. Sierra got her back by taking the whole bag of flour and dumping it on Maddie. But some got on Nani, so she picked up some batter and whipped it at Sierra. She missed, and hit me across the chest instead. I turned to her in mock rage and took an egg before cracking it on her head.  She squealed, and Sierra came to her rescue, cracking another egg and smearing it on my face. Then Maddie, for good measure, threw some of the leftover flour on my head.

Now we were all on the floor laughing our heads off at how three 12 year olds and a 22 year old got into a baking fight.
