The week went fast. Way too fast in my opinion. It is now Friday, and we have an early flight tomorrow morning. I already figured out a routine so that Sam and Kate will check up on the house some weeks, and then my mom and dad will check up on it the other weeks. One good thing though is that since I am the only legal guardian of Maddie, the organization or whatever is hosting this trip offered to take care of the bills on the house while we are away. Since it's our last night home for about a year, I let Maddie have Sierra and Nani over. Kate and Sam you coming in the morning to drop Maddie and I off at the airport. It kind of still hasn't sunk in though. I am just in rush mode, trying to make sure both Maddie and I have everything we need.
I'm currently making soup (I know.....) while the girls are upstairs. I wanted to let them have their time alone to really say goodbye. Yes, we will be back, but not until the year is over. A lot can happen in that amount of time.
I set the table as if we were going to have a nice family dinner. And to be completely honest, Sierra and Nani have become somewhat like family. It has only been I few months since Maddie has made friends with them, but they fit so nicely with the pair of us.
I walk back into the kitchen to check on the soup. It is boiling, so I turn off the stove and get out a ladle. Once everything is finished, I call up the stairs to the girls.
"Coming!" I hear someone yell, and then three pairs of feet come running down the stairs. They all know the drill, helping themselves to fill their bowls before sitting down at the table.

After we all clean up dinner, Nani, Sierra, Maddie, and I all head to the livingroom. Maddie sat on one end of the couch, then it went Nani, then me, then Sierra. My original plan was for us to watch some tv, but sitting here and seeing how comfortable Nani and Sierra both are with us, I knew I had to at least say something.
"Nani? Sierra?" They both turn their heads to look at me, as does Maddie. "You know that I think of you guys as family right? And even though you are annoying and crazy, I am going to miss being around you guys." I see tears in Nani's eyes as she nods her head while Sierra throws her arms around me. I almost laugh because Sierra uses any chance she can get to touch me, but this time I know she is being sincere.

It is around 9:00, but I told the girls to go to bed now so that Maddie will be well rested for our flight. Sierra's mom is picking up both Sierra and Nani at around 7:00 in the morning tomorrow. I thanked her for letting them stay the night and picking them up in the morning. I was ready for bed myself. We have to be at the airport by 8:00, and as you know, I need my beauty sleep.
Just as I am about to go into the bathroom connected to my room to brush my teeth, I hear a knock on my door.
"Come in." I say, expecting Maddie to ask for extra blankets or something. I was right that it was Maddie, but she wasn't here to ask about blankets. She went over to the edge of my bed and sat down, motioning for me to sit next her. I obeyed and looked at her expectantly.
"I just really want to thank you Niall." I am surprised by this starting line, as Maddie and I usually joke around a lot and aren't too serious all the time. "For taking me in when no one else would, for letting my friends become such a big part of my life, for being like a real parent to me, for agreeing to come with me on the trip and making my biggest dreams come true. Thank you." There are tears in her eyes as she hugs me. And I finally get it. I might not be Maddie's real parent, or be the best role model for her, but I am still making her happy. And that's all I ever wanted to do.

I am woken up out of my dreamless slumber be the annoying beep of my alarm clock. I look over and it says 6:30 in glowing red numbers. I sigh, and pull the blankets off of me. Sierra's mom will be coming in a half of an hour and I need to feed the girls breakfast before they leave. Maddie and I got most of the packing done in advance, so hopefully it won't be a rushed morning. I pad down the stairs to make toast and eggs with bacon. When it is about finished, I walk back upstairs to get the girls up. Usually I would just yell, but it is too early for that. I peek in the room to see them all sleeping peacefully. Cute. "Wake up!" I yell, running out of the room and laughing as I see their panic-stricken faces before they spot me. A pillow whizzed right past my head as I ran down the stairs. I hear muffled shouts, but ignore them, instead yelling back up once I reach the bottom of the stairs.
"Come get breakfast! Sierra's mom will be here in less than half of an hour." I go to set the table as Maddie, Nani, and Sierra all pad down the stairs, their eyes still laced with sleep.
"I'm going to miss you guys." Nani says. "But I am more happy for Maddie than I am sad she is leaving." She turns to Maddie. "I hope you have the time of your life. And don't forget to send pictures!" They all giggle, and I am glad they are keeping the mood light. There have been enough negative emotions in the house for a while.

Sam and Kate arrive at around 7:15 to help Maddie and I load up our stuff, and to drive us to the airport. I figured it would be safer to leave my truck here instead of at an airport for a year. While Sam Kate and Maddie all load up Sam's truck, I run around the house making sure everything is unplugged, and all the blinds are pulled shut, and that we have everything. Once I've checked the entire house, I grab the multiple garbage bags to take out. I cleaned out the fridge so that we wouldn't have any surprises when we get back. I put the trash on the curb before turning to look at my house one more time. I stare for a while before turning to Sam's truck and hopping in the back. I look out the window as Sam drives, watching as I slowly get farther and farther away from my old life.
Hey guys! So what did you think?? This is gonna be a long authors note, so I'm breaking it up into parts.
1) So, although my cover made by slaymestoran is amazing, I think I am in need of a change. Can anyone help me out? If you are into making covers, kik me @NiallandHarryisNarry. And I will always use it as fan art if it is not what I am looking for in a cover! You will get a dedication as well. ;)
2) What do you guys think of putting in Harry's POV? I am undecided on whether I want it to be in all Niall's POV, or both Harry and Niall. I thought it would be cute to write in Harry's POV for when he first sees Niall...? I don't know. You tell me.
3) For some reason, lately I am Niam af. I don't know why. I was on Niall's and Liam's Instagram the other day, and out of all the boys, Niall appears most on Liam's Instagram. And on Niall's, almost every picture Niall gets with the lads has Liam right next to Niall, or at least touching him. Idk, Narry is still my otp tho, don't worry. :)
4) Niall hat pic on the side/top! Yay! Love you all, and...
Stay extraordinarry!
