Dylan sits next to me, his head in his hands, and he is crying softly. I guess his instincts started to act up, and he couldn't remember to revert back into human form. Which is weird because it usually only happens when he turns into a wolf.
He slowly raises his head and looks at me. "Kaia, I ... I can't keep doing this."
"Dylan, it's gonna be okay," I assure him.
He shakes his head. "No, I ... it won't."
"Come on, you should probably eat something. I know I'm starving," I say, trying to redirect his thoughts. He nods and stands up. He wipes his face off against his sleeve and then looks at me.
I don't know why, but a powerful urge to hug him overwhelms me. So I simply walk over and wrap my arms around him. He starts, but then he slowly puts his arms around me.
"If I could take away your curse, I would," I say.
"I would take yours from you, too," he says.
I brush the tears from my eyes and I nod. "I know you would. Now come on, you're helping me tonight."
Dylan sits at the table with me as we eat dinner, even though it's pretty late, like around eleven. Then we sit down on the floor (because why not) and start to play Jenga and other games.
Around three in the morning, we decide to just sit and talk. We talk about everything from the sun to the moon, but we don't talk about our curses. I ignore the voices in my head, just so I can talk to Dylan.
Eventually, he has to go back to his house to get ready for the day ahead. I give him one last hug, then let him go.
I think I might be in love with him.
