~ Kaia's POV ~

I wake up when she tells me it's time for lunch, and then I go downstairs to eat with Maya. She sits on the edge of her seat, something she's always done, and nibbled at her food while we talk.

"So, what are you two going to do for your big date?" she asks, smiling big.

"Nosy butt," I say.

She laughs. "Remember when Dad used to call me that?"

"Yep."

She opens her mouth to say something, and there's a knock on the door. Confused as to who would be even around here, as we are out in the middle of nowhere, we both get up to answer the door.

Cassie stands on the other side of the door, and she looks at us like we are the last people she expected to open that door.

"Cas?" Maya asks, opening the door wider.

"Yeah, it's me," she says softly. "Can I come in?"

"Of course. Yeah, come in," Maya says.

We all head into the kitchen, and Cassie abruptly sits down on the chair beside mine and sighs. She looks up at me as I approach, and she shrugs a shoulder.

"It's not as black and white as we had previously thought," she says. "Those demons that are after you two are going to find you in this place before long. You need to either move on, and live somewhere else, or find a way to break your curses."

"Do you know how we could break them?" I ask.

"There's always the stereotypical way of doing it. You could always try to do the true love kiss one but I don't think that would work because we aren't in a movie," she says.

"That's funny, I suggested that they do the true love's kiss too," says Maya.

Cassie shrugs. "It might work. You never know."

"Right. Any other ideas? Because I'm kinda scared to kiss him if I don't know that our kiss will save us, and I also don't know how much I mean to him."

"That's bullshit and you know it," says Maya. "You love him the same way he loves you. I know that for a fact. You two are very much a one-true-pair kind of love."

"Maya, relax. We just started dating today, we aren't the next Romeo and Juliet."

"How do you know? You could be," she says. "Just ... let's hope that you two don't share their fates."

"Yeah," Cassie says. "So you should probably get going like tonight. I'll be coming with you, to protect you."

"And I'm going too," says Maya.

"What? No, neither of you is going," I say.

"C'mon, don't be a stick in the mud, Kaia."

I sigh. "Fine. But no sexual teasing."

"Ha! Wasn't going to do it until you said something!" cries Maya. "Yes!"

I roll my eyes. "Do so at your own peril."

Then I head to the other side of the room, looking out at the sky. It's now one thirty, and I have to wait till around nine o'clock for Dylan to come back.

"Why don't you two go rest?" Maya suggests. "Kaia, you barely sleep as it is, and Cassie, you look whooped."

"Okay, mom," says Cassie. She gets up and trudges to the couch, then she flops down and moments later, starts to softly snore.

Maya rolls her eyes. "She's so predictable."

"She can be at times," I admit. "But I will see you later, okay? Wake me up before he comes home?"

She nods. "I'll keep a check on the time."

"Okay."

I head upstairs, and soon enough, I'm fast asleep.
