The next day, as I am working, I get a call from my sister.

"Hello?" I ask as I pick up the phone.

She's panting and out of breath. "Kaia! Oh, thank God you answered!"

"Cassie? Are you  - "

"No time, no time at all," she breathes. She sounds like she is running. "Meet me at the Warehouse Flats in ten. Please hurry. It's life or death."

She then hangs up. I sigh, gather my things, and head out. It takes me eight minutes to drive to the Warehouse Flats, but when I arrive, I don't see any cars out front. Then I remember that she was running for some reason. So I walk over to the door and head inside. The warehouse is big and full of storage space. But since there is nothing inside it, it's never locked.

At least, it's never been before.

When I slip inside, Cassie meets me and throws her thin arms around me, and she sighs, her voice shaking. Cassie takes my hand and we walk over to the back corner of the warehouse in silence.

"What is wrong?" I ask her.

"There's not much time. We don't have much time, so just set aside everything you think you know about the world and listen to me."

"Um, okay," I say, feeling awkward.

"In a minute or so, the doors are opening and in comes the demons. They want you, but they will get me. I know, I know, but you have to find Dylan, as fast as you can. I know that that's hard during the day, but you have to find him before they do.  Got it? This is life or death, Kaia. You have to hurry and find Dylan before it's too late."

"Before it's too late? What are you talking about, Cassie?"

"Find Dylan, then get him to Maya. Think you can do that for me, Kaia?"

Get out of there. Get out of there now!

Go! Run! Now!

"The voices are going crazy because your life is now at risk. And the only way to save your life and Dylan's is to hide right now and run as far and as fast as you can. Go. Find him, get to Maya. She will know what to do, just tell her I sent you. Got it?"

"Cassie, I ... "

"Do. You. Got. It?"

"Yes."

"Then go, sister. Please. Before it's too late."

I turn and run. I stop running when I see the warehouse door opens, and in comes a troop of guys and girls in all black clothes, and they are dead silent as they walk in. I duck behind a crate and look around the corner at them.

"Cassie? Oh, Cassie?" one of them calls in a singsong voice.

"Cassie, where are you?" someone else calls.

I close my eyes and try to calm myself. The voices are telling me eighteen different ways of getting out of here. But I don't know, I don't want to listen to them.

Listen to us or not, but you have to get out of there RIGHT NOW!

I bolt for the door. They turn around and see me as I am making my way to my car, and several of the people run after me. But I reach my car first, turn it on, lock the doors, and peel out of there before anything bad can happen.

I just pray that that was not the last time I will ever see Cassie.
