Dylan and I stay up long into the night and we talk about everything but the fact that my curse is back. But I don't care. I'll listen to the dead forever before I condemn Dylan to that fate again.

It's about three thirty when we go to bed. My sisters both went to sleep before us, as Dylan and I were just talking. So they're in the small guest room together.

He pulls me down onto his chest as I lean back to lay down, so I rest against him. He wraps his arms around me and holds me there for a while, and neither of us talks. After a little bit, I wonder if he's fallen asleep. So I roll over and look at him, and yes, he is fast asleep.

So I simply nestle closer to him and close my eyes, listening to his heartbeat. I soon fall asleep.

When I wake, I'm still in his arms, and he has his head resting on my shoulder. I lay there for a while, not really thinking about anything. I listen to the sound of his heart beating and it's like the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

As we lay there, comfy and happy, the only sound is of us breathing, and our hearts beating. Dylan has his arms around me still, holding me in place. I have my arms around him too, and pretty soon, I have to get up to use the bathroom, so I carefully slip out from under his arms and I go to the bathroom.

As I'm getting done and washing my hands, I look at my reflection in the mirror. She looks happier than I've been before. Like nothing can upset her.

You really think everything is going to be okay, now, Kaia? You got another thing coming.

I roll my eyes. "You're so predictable." Then I head back and crawl into bed beside Dylan, and just lay there for a while, ignoring the constant barrage of voices of the dead.

When he finally wakes up, we go to the kitchen and I see Maya and Cassie standing by the stove, as they cook breakfast.

Things are about to change.

I look at Dylan, and he is talking to Cassie. No one said that, that was a dead voice.

"Guys ... "

Cassie's phone buzzes. She answers it, and narrows her eyes.

"Clay? What's wrong?"

There's a pause. Then her eyes widen, and she looks at me and Maya and Dylan. Then she mumbles, "Okay. Will do. Stay safe. Bye." She hangs up and shakes her head. "We need to get out of here. Now."

"Why? What's wrong?" Maya asks.

"They're here. The people who did this to you two."

That's when they burst in and I see Justin standing beside two women who are obviously sisters.

"I am Talia, this is Noel, my sister," says the woman in the middle. "And we are here for you, Kaia."

Oh great ... just great. I sigh.
