It was third grade and I was going to coop Elementary I had a teacher named Mr John and he was a really old white guy and I remember one day we was in the restroom together and while wm washing our hands he told me you will be something when you grow up you may not know it now but you will be somebody and you can't lose if you don't try. I try to live my life based on what he told me ever since then it gave me a new fire new motto to live by. Being at the homeless shelter mom always wanted to stay in church there was a pastor who would come with his wife and kids to speak to us he's a pretty cool guy and seeing him successful and living a prosperous life I dreamed how it would be if I wasn't in my current situation. One day after service he invited me and mom and jonte to his house in League City it was my first time actually visiting another part of Houston besides the homeless shelter. When we arrived at his house it was like a vacation home sorta like Hawaii. We all went to Kemah Boardwalk and probably the most fun I had since moving to Houston I remember we got to eat at Saltgrass steak house I couldn't remember the last time mom had a smile on her face it made me happy for that one day I was at peace.
Since moving into the shelter mom really didn't have a job so I really didn't have all the extra luxuries I have today like shoes toys things of that nature. So on top of living in a homeless shelter I didn't have much to do so I was lonely besides having imagination. One day I remember I drew a car on the wall it was pretty big and mom got mad but she didn't get as mad as you would think for kids drawing on the wall she told me it looked good but I had to take it off so she made me scrub it till it was all clean . Two weeks later she bought me my first sketchbook it meant a lot to me it was it was like my gate way to express myself or to be free from the outside world.
One day it was raining I remember and we were supposed to go out to visit my family on my moms side and we went outside and the car was gone. She called Reginald because he's the one who bought it for her , she then told him that the car was gone he responded with he took it it really made me angry towards him for a while, I hated him for the longest because he came all the way to Houston didn't even bother to say hello and he just took the car so that made troubles worse for us.
Let's flash forward to Christmas 4th grade year I wasn't expecting to get much for Christmas and if you look at the book cover that is me and you can see that I'm really excited. That Christmas was probably the most special Christmas to me. I don't know how but my mom she bought me a PlayStation 2 & NBA Live 07. I never really asked for much receiving that for Christmas once again made me feel at peace in my life.
