Dear Diary,
Merry Christmas!! Christmas has flown by so fast!
Last night we didn't end up watching the Polar Express, like we usually do every year. The older kids watched Saints and Soldiers 3, while the little kids went to bed. My dad and I were the only ones that stayed awake through the whole thing. Mark and Lynne left halfway through to go to sleep, and Rob fell asleep sometime after they left.
This morning cute little David ran into my room at 7, and said, "Joy wake up, Santa has been here! There are presents for all of us!"
He was so excited to open presents. It was so cute watching him and Scott open their gifts.
Our parents got the whole family a wii, 2 tandem bikes, and an electric piano.
This year we got given a name to give a big present to, and it had to be a homemade present. Mark liked the homemade beef jerky I made for him. My sister Lynne had me, and she drew on two sweatshirts for me. She is such an amazing artist! On one she wrote, "THE BOOK WAS BETTER" on it, and on the other she wrote "MARVEL", and in each letter was a symbol representing my favorite marvel characters! I also got 170 dollars in total from my parents and my grandparents.
My family got to Skype Donald today. I miss him so much. Each of us only got 2 minutes to talk to him. I didn't really know what to say during my 2 minutes, plus my mom kept interrupting. He called me beautiful in Farsi. It's an arabic language. Only 8 missionaries in the world get the opportunity to learn it for their mission. In California there are only 2 missionaries that get to learn it. So this is an amazing opportunity for him! It's hard for him to learn the language, because the church doesn't have any books translated in that language yet.
After eating breakfast, opening stockings, opening gifts, and talking to Donald, all the older kids and my dad went to Lethbridge. We went to go play hockey at my grandparents farm. This was the first year that I have ever played hockey with my family. all the other years I have been on the side with the little kids, because I didn't know how to play hockey. This year I learned how to play hockey gym, so I got to play today. It was so much fun. Close to the end Lynne asked me to take pictures, and to guard her phone with my life. While I was standing there taking pictures, I started to fall, and then caught myself. As I went to stand up, I fell over but I turned so I wouldn't land on her phone. I landed on my back. It kind of hurt, but it could have been worst.
After hockey, we all went home and had fondue for dinner.
So much more things happened today, but it would take to long to say everything. On that note, I'm going to bed.
Good night Diary,
~ Joy
