Dear Diary,
So when I woke up this morning, my mom told me that we were going to Lethbridge to swim and stay overnight at the Ramada. I did not want to go, because I already had plans with someone. I had plans with Syd, he just didn't know for sure if he could hang out. I didn't want to tell my mom and I was ditching them for him. Lynne came in and said she wasn't going to go either, because there was a dance that she wanted to go to. I totally forgot about that, but I wasn't planning on going, mainly because Syd wasn't going to go.
Since I didn't know if Syd could hang out, I texted Mike and asked him. He told me he was going over to Syd's house. (Well wasn't that convenient.) So I didn't really have anywhere that I could go.
Right before my mom left, she told me I had to find somewhere to go right then, because I wasn't allowed to stay home. So I quickly texted Jen and asked if I could come hang at her place for the day. She texted me back pretty quick and told me it would be fine.
When I got over there Syd and Bug were sitting on the couch, so I went and sat with them. We just talked and laughed for a while. While I was sitting there I realized I still hadn't given Syd his welcome home hug, but I didn't want to do it in front of Bug, because who knows what she'd do. After an hour of sitting and talking, Mike showed up with a friend of his to hang with Syd till Mike went to work. After they came inside they went downstairs, and I didn't want to join them, because I thought they were going to play Xbox. So instead I snuggled with Bug while she played Minecraft on my iPod.
They came back upstairs ten minutes later, because they didn't want to play Xbox anymore.
When they went upstairs I joined them. We decided to watch a movie, so we went on Netflix to figure it what we wanted to watch.
They told me I had to choose, so I choose Edge of Tomorrow. The only problem was Bug was in the room with us, but she wasn't allowed to watch this movie. So Syd and I convinced her to go out, and she could play my iPod.
Right before we started the movie Syd's cousin August showed up, and he watched it with us. The movie was really good. I even cried once. Halfway through the movie Mike left for work, and his friend left at the same time. A little while after that Syd had to go downstairs because his parents had to talk to him. When he came back in he didn't seem very happy.
After the movie we sat down to each supper, and that's when I figured out what was wrong. His parents were making him go to the dance, and he was not happy about that.
After an amazing meal, I went with Syd, Bug, and Ellen (Syd's mom) to go help set up the gymnastics stuff. Bug and I didn't really do anything, because there was lots of people there. I ran into Marie at the gym. I hadn't seen her forever, and she told me was was also going to the dance.
After I could tell that Syd wasn't in as bad of a mood as before. But when we got back, Bug, Syd, Jace and I played cards for a little while, and Syd wasn't seeming like he was enjoying it. I hadn't seen him smile for a couple of hours. I felt bad for him. I tried my hardest to make him laugh, but he just wasn't in the mood.
The dance was not as bad as Syd thought it was going to be. I had a lot of fun. I've got to say it's one of the best dances that I have been to! I got to slow dance with him twice. The first time we danced, Dawn and Mike took pictures. I was really mad at them, but I'll probably thank them later. Syd is a really good slow dancer partner. I have always thought I was the only one that thought that slow dancing hurt, but Syd said it hurts him too.
For the second dance, I asked him, because Donald has challenged me to ask at least one guy at every dance I go to. Plus I really enjoyed dancing with Syd. It's not awkward dancing with him.
The last time I danced with my crush before Syd, the guy didn't really say anything, because he was embarrassed. I was so scared to dance with Syd at first, because I thought it would be awkward, but it was no where close to that!
The dance ended around 12. Syd said that he actually kind of enjoyed it. He said he would have rather been doing something else, but it wasn't half bad.
Mike was acting weird at the dance. He wouldn't talk to me, and would ask me to dance, because of what he said yesterday. I really hope that we can still be friends.
Good night Diary,
~ Joy
