You Were Always The One

Something is not right.

Author's POV

"How am I going to go to my room without my parents finding out?" Karan asked looking at Lily. She looked at him and an evil smirk appeared on her face.

"Just do what I say." Lily said getting out of the car. Karan followed her without any question.

The doorbell rang twice before Karan's mom opened the door.

"Lily? What are you doing here at this time?" She asked making way for her to enter. Lily did not say anything and pulled his mom along with her to the living room.

"Aunty I came here for something urgent. You know na our exams are coming and I don't have all the notes so I wanted to borrow it from Karan, but I forgot about it at school and I need it today at any cost so that I can return it to him tomorrow. That way it won't be a problem for him as well."

"Oh....okay...I'll call him." Said Karan's mom looking at her sceptically. As she went near the staircase, she saw him standing in front of his room as if he just came out.

"Your friend is here for notes, sort it out quickly..." She told him in a cold voice. Karan flinched at her voice, he did not want his mom to be angry at him.

"Yes ma..." He said slowly as he went past her to where Lily was. Lily saw him coming towards her and winked at him.

"Saved ya!" She said and sat down on the couch resting her head on it.

"Yeah...thanks!"

"Anytime..."

"Why are you still here?"

"Bring me one of your notebooks idiot. I'm here for notes."

"Oh yeah! Wait..." He rushed to his room and returned with a notebook in his hand.

"Don't think too much about what happened. Relax!" Lily said as she went to the main door. Karan sent her off and turned around to go to his room.

"Don't do that ever again!" He was startled to see his mom sitting on his bed.

"Sorry ma! I was angry and did not think it through..." Karan said thinking she was referring to his tattoo.

"Not thinking it through! You jump off your balcony without thinking it through?!" Karan's face turned pale as she said those words.

"You...knew....I'm so sorry ma!" Karan said approaching her.

"Sorry! What were you thinking? Why do you have to trouble your mother so much? Do you know how scared I was?" She said as her voice turned hoarse.

"Ma! I won't do it again! Please don't cry..." He said sitting beside her.

"Then what should I do? It was such a loud noise, and to think that you jumped off your balcony! My heart stopped for a second! I saw your friend dragging you as you tried to escape as fast as you can! I know your knees are bleeding! Why do you have to willingly hurt yourself! Can't you think of me once before doing such things! First that tattoo and now this! I'm very disappointed in you...."

"Ma...Dad? Does he also know?" Karan asked feeling scared once again.

"I told him a big fat wild cat jumped off the balcony!" She answered him with a pout on her face and got up to leave from there.

Karan laid down on the bed looking at the ceiling. He chuckled after a few minutes.

"She is my mom after all!" He thought out loud and texted Lily that his mom knew. She only sent a laughing emoji and Karan laughed again. Even though he got it from his parents today, he slept with a smile on his face that night.
