Ten years later...
Disha's POV
'Shit, I am going to be late again! This time Ananya won't leave me!' I thought as I rushed downstairs to reach my office. I put my helmet on, start my scooter and rush to my destination. As I reach my office, I sigh in relief.
'This time you are only 35 minutes late Disha, better than last time.' I encouraged myself before entering through the doors. As soon as I enter my cubicle, a very scary looking Ananya is sitting on my chair, twirling the pen in her hands, eyes throwing glares my way.
"Uh...I had set the alarm I promise! But I think sometime at night, my phone died and switched off." I gave her the best puppy eyes I could muster, which seems to work on her every time. She sighed before getting up.
"You know, I am not even going to tell you anything anymore. How could you be so careless? You know we have to attend the 'Master your Mind' seminar at 11 a.m. and here you are making your grand entrance at 9:40." Ananya said with a cute pout trying to show me that she is angry, but let's be honest. Everyone in the office knows she can never stay angry with me for more than a few minutes.
"Sorry Anya! You know how much work I have to do at home before coming here!" I replied sheepishly and the smile she was trying so hard to control finally appeared.
"Okay, settle these segments fast, we have to get going. You know it's an hour drive." Saying this, she exited my cubicle.
'Okay Disha, it's time to work.' I settle down and open the files. How things changed in these ten years...
My grandma died two days after I reached there, leaving behind her jewellery and whatever small fortune she owned for me. It helped me in getting my B.A. and M.A. degree in literature, and over the years, even I don't know how, I got this job. I am an editor of 'Recit' publishing Co. and currently working with the budding novelist who is also my best friend...Ananya.
I made a few friends in college, but they are pretty busy in their lives and we aren't in constant contact. I lost all contacts with my school friends though. Lily used to call me and we used to talk, even Sid talked to me, but not once did Karan join in. The day we got our pre- board results, was the last time I talked to him. But after a few months, when all started college life, even that ended. Also, I changed my number. I lost all contact with them...
I permanently moved out from my house that time only, I talk to my aunt every two weeks or so. Simi completed her engineering and is currently working in Bangalore.
My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door, I looked up to see Ananya standing there.
"Continue this later Disha...It's time." I just nodded and stacked all the files accordingly so that I won't be confused when I return. Ananya has already briefed me three times, one more time won't be too nice I guess. I don't want to risk it.
After an hour long drive, we were finally here. I stretched my arms after exiting the car. We are standing in front of Apollo Hospital where this seminar is going to be held. 'Master your Mind' is a mental health programme in which Ananya was also invited, and as her editor, I have to accompany her.
As we reach the reception area, the staff welcomed us and took us to the auditorium where the programme will be starting any minute now.
We were allotted front row seats. After settling down Ananya tapped on my shoulder. I turned to look at her.
