Disha's POV
Simi, aunt and uncle are returning today, finally I won't have to be alone anymore, these past few days were very difficult for me. It was the first time I have been all by myself. Everything was scary, and too silent. I studied and then watched something on my laptop and then ate some junk and this cycle repeated, but I would still not be at ease. All that changed on Saturday though, never would I have guessed that Karan would come to meet me, and that too with Siddharth and Lily.
I didn't know these people too well; they were just two people attending the same school as me. Though Sid somewhat grew close to me last year, but Lily's visit was a complete shock to me. I am not really sure what to think of it. It is funny to think that the people I thought to be my friends never really cared and these three actually showed up at my door when they came to know that I was alone. A small smile came to my face thinking of them.
I am cleaning the house right now and it is pretty tiring, I slacked off these few days and only cleaned my room and the kitchen. But I have to get everything proper before 5 p.m. As I move to the garden to water the plants, yesterday's events flash by. If I was shocked by their visit on Saturday, I was totally flabbergasted by Karan's little surprise visit yesterday. Never would I have thought that I would become that 'someone' for him to whom he can come to when he feels lost, and I am not complaining. It made me feel special. But then again, no one knows when special becomes ordinary. I have had a taste of it already and I am so not willing to taste it again.
Just as the clock struck 7, the doorbell rang. As soon as I opened the door, I was attacked by Simi. She jumped on me trapping me in a tight hug making it hard for me to breathe.
"I missed you!" she said without loosening her grip.
"Can't...breathe..." She left me as I got these words out and I took a deep breath. I then moved to the door to greet my aunt and uncle.
"How is grandmother?" I asked aunty serving her a glass of water as they settled on the couch.
"A bit better but she needs care. Atul is there so it's a relief." She said after drinking water. Atul uncle is her brother.
"Hmm..." I only hummed in response.
"So your friends came on Saturday?" She asked me after my uncle left to his room.
"Yes..." I replied hesitantly, I told her about that day when she called but did not tell her about Karan's visit yesterday. I don't know how she would react if I tell her, and it's better if I don't find out.
"Who exactly came? I know Elina and Tara, but they never visited home? Did you call them because you were alone?" She asked looking straight at me. Simi was sitting silently beside me trying to read her mother's mind.
"No...my...new friends came, I did not call them, they visited on their own."
"Were there any boys?" Her voice turned a bit cold.
"Two...boys..." I replied, my voice getting lower with each word.
"Hmm...This should not repeat, at least till the time you are under our care, you cannot call boys to this house without my or your uncle's permission got that?" She went away from there without waiting for my answer. This has always been the case, she never raises her voice on me, but her stone cold tone holds power and authority. I am never expected to disobey her no matter what, it is like an unspoken agreement between us ever since I moved in here.
"Don't worry, you know she is always like this in these matters. Remember how she reacted when I wanted to invite Abhinav on my birthday last year?" Simi said placing her hand on my shoulder bringing me out of my thoughts.
