Author's POV

"Fuck it!" Karan said under his breath as he turned around and saw Lily standing there in shock. He decided to not think about her anymore as it would make him feel that uneasiness he was trying hard to avoid. As he sat down on his desk, he saw Disha sitting with a nerd guy and Sid was not yet in the class, it pained his heart and he put his head down.

On Sunday...

Karan was playing in his PS4 with his headphone on. His mother was in his room cleaning the mess. She picked up the dirty clothes piled at the corner of the room and placed them on the chair. She then proceeded to change the bed sheet into a fresh one. Taking his old bed sheet along with his clothes that she placed on the chair, she left his room. Something fell from the large pile when she was going down the stairs. She did not notice it and went to the laundry room.

In the evening, when Karan's dad left his room and went downstairs, he noticed the envelope which was lying by the stairs and picked it up.

"This woman! Can't even keep things in place!" he said opening the letter. It was Karan's suspension letter.

Karan was completely lost in his game when he suddenly felt his headphone being pulled.

"What the – what happened?" Karan said not understanding his dad's behaviour. As he said this he felt a hard slap on his right cheek.

"What happened? You can't do this dad! You have to tell me-" Karan was interrupted by yet another slap on his cheek. He understood that another slap of that magnitude would make his slightly swollen nose bleed again.

"Please dad, don't do this. It hurts -" he felt yet another slap and his nose started bleeding like he predicted. It hurt a lot this time, maybe because it was from his dad.

His dad stopped when he saw the blood and said, "This is what you do in school?"

"What did I do dad?" Karan replied wiping his blood. A tear rolled down his cheek when he looked at his dad.

"You got fucking suspended?!" his dad shouted showing him the letter.

"Dad, it was not my fau -"

"Did your mother know about this?" his dad yelled cutting him again.

"Dad! At least listen to what I have to say!"

"I've had enough! First your tattoo and now this! You think all this is a joke? You think I wouldn't notice this?"

"Dad, I'm sorry." Karan's voice turned hoarse.

"You are in a very bad company! You weren't like this in your previous school!"

"Dad no.... my friend saved me!"

"I don't care about your stupid friends! I just don't want to waste my money on you anymore. Drop school if you think you cannot behave yourself there."

"Dad please don't say like that!"

"What do you expect me to say son? When I have your suspension letter here?" his dad's voice finally turned low.

"I'm sorry for that! I'm very sorry but at least listen to what happened!"

"Where is your mom?"

"Dad she has nothing to do with it, she didn't even know."

"Call her here! Right now!"

"Dad if you're going to degrade her again I won't call her! You can keep slapping me but don't say anything to ma!" he said getting up.
