You Were Always The One

The Shift.

Karan's POV

'Will you be my boyfriend?'

I looked at Raveena in shock. She is smiling at me. This is so sudden.

"What does it say?" I heard Lily's voice. I turned to her, she is standing with a curious expression on her face along with Sid.

I turned to Disha, she is looking right at me, probably waiting for me to tell her what's written on this note. I look into her eyes.

"So...what is your answer?" I turn back to face Raveena. Her eyes are shining and hopeful. But why am I hesitant? This is what I have wanted for the past three months. She is the reason I joined this school. I have been with her for three years and I was happy.

"Yes..." the word came out before I could think anything else.

Her eyes beamed with joy and she jumped on me for a hug, I hugged her back and her scent engulfed me. This is it, this is what I have always wanted. This is right...right? I am happy...ain't I?

"Woah! Woah! Woah! Stop the PDA and tell us what is happening?" Sid said and we broke our hug.

"She agreed to be my girlfriend." I told them with a smile.

"No, he agreed to be my boyfriend!" Raveena held my right arm as she said that. I chuckled at this but stopped once I saw their faces. Sid was shocked but Lily and Disha had a completely different expression. They looked like they were...hurt?

"What are you all still doing here, come to the dining table..." mom entered the hall but stopped in her tracks looking at Raveena. Yeah...she kinda dislikes her.

"Raveena, when did you arrive? You did not tell me she was joining too?" she asked looking at Lily.

"Aunty...I wanted to surprise Karan, so I did not tell anyone that I would join." She told her.

"Hmm...then you also come in and join us for dinner." She said going back to the kitchen.

Disha's POV

Why does this hurt so much? I knew this was going to happen one day. It will always be her.

'This is why I warned you Disha...' I heard a voice in my head. I moved slowly to the dining table and sat down.

"Thank you so much for today..." Karan said to me as I was heading towards Lily's car. Lily and Sid were already inside.

"You're welcome..." I said as I looked into his eyes. I could easily drown in its depth. We kept looking at each other, not saying a word. I wanted him to say something, anything, but he didn't. Our trance ended as Lily blew the car horn.

"Bye..." I said turning around. I did not wait for his response and got in the back seat. We started heading to our homes in complete silence, all lost in their thoughts.

Author's POV

Monday morning Karan woke up but stayed on the bed thinking about Raveena. He was happy, he didn't think too much about it though, maybe he feared his thoughts.

He saw the time, it was 7 a.m. and he had to get up to reach school on time.

As he reached school he saw Lily parking her car and waited for her. She saw him and smiled.

"Hey Karan!"

"Hi!"

"So! Raveena ha! You must be pretty excited about that right?"

"Yes I am."

"Lily!!!!! Where were you?" a guy shouted as he started approaching them.

"Karan I'll catch up with you later!" Lily said and ran towards him.
