Author's POV

Rubbing the sleep off his eyes, Sid sat up on his bed. It was 5 a.m., an hour earlier than his usual time to wake up. He stretched his hands out and got up to go to the washroom for his morning routine. He got ready for school, wearing his uniform and brushing his wet hair with his fingers. A series of extra classes have been held for senior year students which started an hour before the school starts. Sid's class teacher has given his name to each one of them much to his dismay.

Sid sighed as soon as he reached the school ground. The whole place was almost empty except for the school's sports team members who practised before the classes would start. He eyed the basketball team running lapses around the court. He was once among them and would have been the captain of the team, but left it all because of only one person. Another sigh left his lips at the thought.

He entered the classroom. Some of his old friends were sitting on a desk chatting to pass the time.

"Man's here!" A boy from the group shouted when he entered.

"Where's Newton's great grandson?" Sid asked approaching them, referring to their physics teacher. He stood in front of the desk where two boys were sitting and three squeezed on the bench behind the desk.

The boy just beside him shrugged as Sid scoffed.

"Dude! You don't spend time with us anymore. You just hang out with that girl, what's her name? Aah...Lily." said the boy sitting in the middle on the bench.

"I mean we know we don't have things that she has..." the guy beside the first one spoke up and all of them started laughing.

Sid raised his eyebrows at them and turned to leave after showering them with some colourful words.

'Fuck them! Where did her name come from?' He was walking down the corridor to go to the ground when someone blocked his path.

"I have to tell you something." Ryan said with determination.

"Move. I don't want you to say anything to me." Sid replied casually putting his hands in his pockets.

"I'm not leaving unless you hear me out." Ryan copied his stance and looked at him with challenging eyes.

"Fine then, keep standing." Sid started moving without looking at him. Just as he was about to walk by, Ryan pulled him back by his sleeve.

"You are not leaving." He said pushing Sid back in front of him.

Sid let out a frustrated sigh before finally looking at Ryan.

"What?" He raised his voice an octave.

"I...want to apologise." Ryan said, his voice getting lower with each word.

"Huh? The great Ryan wants to apologise! Well, I am not the one you need to apologise to." Sid said before starting to walk again. Ryan pulled him back yet again and punched him lightly on his chest to make him stay.

"Will you listen to me?" He said irritated at him.

"No I won't!" Sid replied and returned his punch right back at him.

"The heck you won't!" Ryan pushed him by his collar making Sid land on the floor and sat on his torso to trap him.

"Now listen. I want to say...sorry, because I know I let you down. I hurt you." Ryan said with Sid's collar still in his hands. Sid however, had stopped his struggle and was simply lying down on the ground.

"No you didn't, I don't fucking care whatever the hell you do. You are no one to me. You cannot hurt me, even if you wanted to." Sid said with a blank face looking straight into Ryan's eyes.
