Chapter 1
Chace Braxton makes a right turn into the quiet cul-de-sac. Checking the address he's been given one more time he pulls his Audi RS7up it's driveway. It's been a long day, he's ready to go to his own new home but he promised his father he would talk to his brother by today.
There are lights on through a front window. A door slamming at the townhouse next door has a man coming out of it with a little yapping dog he lets run down the steps on a lead. Chace and the dog's owner check each other out for a minute before Chace turns away walking up the few steps of the house he's at to ring the doorbell.
Rylie lifts the lid on her Chicken Cacciatore to lay some fresh rosemary on top. Snapping her fingers doing her little happy dance near the stove she's feeling so excited to taste her efforts. She's getting her polenta from the fridge when she hears the doorbell ringing.
Making her way to the door she stands on her toes looking through the peephole at the man on the other side. What is he doing here?Oh my god, he's probably looking for his brother. She mumbles checking him out.
Rylie hasn't seen her boss Jayson Braxton since the end of last week. Running over to catch a look at herself in a decorative mirror in her hallway she sees her hair is sort of in a messy bun on top of her head, she doesn't have on any makeup, she's wearing a pair of ripped jean shorts, a thin white t-shirt with her black bra straps hanging on her shoulders and fluffy purple house slippers.
Schleping her feet in the house slippers back across the hardwood floor to the door "Who is it?" She says hoping her voice isn't shaking as she keeps peeking at the man looking pissed in front of her doorstep in his bespoke suit and loosened tie.
"Hi, sorry to disturb you, but I'm looking for Jayson Braxton. I'm his brother Chace I need to speak to him." Chace says placidly. The guy with the dog next door seems to not know you're supposed to walk the damn dog and not make it obvious you're staring at a strange man standing on your female neighbor's doorstep.
The door opens Chace turns his head from watching the nosy neighbor to look around at the unexpected sight in front of him.
She's looking at him with cautious deep brown eyes. The frontdoor is opened just enough for Chace to get a full view of the woman he thinks is about to cause world war three to break out between his father and his younger brother. He's tired of being caught in the middle of them, he doesn't even like being in Virginia and can't wait to get back to New York.
He isn't sure if her hair is meant to be on top of her head or on her shoulders. It kind of looks like sex hair, his brother must be here. He can understand the initial attraction she's not wearing much clothing although he really likes that about her. She's about five-six very nice cleavage, the dropped bra strap an indicator that they are real. Small waist nice curvy hips, nicely proportioned....sexy, very sexy. Legs that go on and on right down to her purple....she's wearing purple house slippers.
"Are you done?" Rylie puts her hand on her hip. "If I ask can I have a turn will I get fired?" She says, his brows knit together in a frown.
"What?" He looks confused with no clue what she's talking about.
"Checking me out....you were just checking me out on my own doorstep. I haven't let you in yet and you're looking at my ass but when you come to visit your brother at work you act like you don't see me in the room."
He's struck by her derisive behavior, she seems to have forgotten all sense of reason like why her married lover's brother is standing at her door. He blinks at her with his long lashes then leans against the door jab pinching the bridge between his nose in obvious frustration.
