Chapter 22

 **Yes...the chapter is long, it's alot but I don't feel like trying to chop it up into little chapters.  It comes with a WARNING.....of a LS.

On Friday morning Rylie is in her office going through some files when Beth arrives at work.  She can hear her moving around, the phone rings.  She waits for Beth to buzz her but she doesn’t making Rylie curious about who it was.  Getting up from her desk she walks over to Beth’s desk to find her crying. 

“Hey, Morning….tell me what’s wrong?”  Rylie ask her face showing her concern. 

“Yesterday after you left, I was told that Jayson will be back but our unit is going to be broken up, I’m being moved to Carolyn’s unit.  That was them telling me my new workstation is ready.  They want me over there after lunch today.”  Beth tearfully explains pulling things out of her desk putting them in a box. 

“Don’t move anything else.  I’m sorry Beth, this isn’t about you it’s about me.  Who told you that you were going to be moved?” 

“Ivana came down, she said the decision came from the CEO’s office.”  Beth reveals to an eye rolling Rylie. 

“The CEO’s office?  He wasn’t in yesterday why am I not surprised, I’ve had enough of this.”  Rylie is walking away from Beth’s desk, Beth runs after her.   “Ry don’t….. you’ve already had two run-ins with her I don’t want you to mess up your chances of getting promoted.  She’s doing this to get at you, let it go.”  Beth pleads. 

“I know she is Beth, if it’s not this it will be something else.  She’s not taking you away from me.  You’re all I’ve got and I’m not losing you.”  The women hug each other.  “Stay here and if anybody comes looking for me I’ll be raising hell on the executive floor.”  Rylie says opening their office suite door letting it swing hard on its hinges against the wall. 

Getting off the elevator she is marching down the hallway straight to Chace’s office, it's a little before eight.   

Carolyn is coming out of the conference room  where the meeting is to be held, Rylie is walking toward her.  Wearing a smirk of satisfaction she knows why Rylie is upset it’s not her decision although she knows how good Beth is, it’s a bitch move on Ivana’s part because she can’t get at Rylie any other way. 

“Is there something you need, today’s meeting has been changed to eleven o’clock.”  She informs Rylie. 

“I know what time the meeting is Carolyn, you’re not getting Beth in your unit so don’t expect her this afternoon.”  Rylie remarks. 

Carolyn smirks surprised she’s showing the guts to fight for what she wants but it’s too late.   “You know Rylie maybe if you had been like this from the start you wouldn’t be just now trying to make it to an executive level.  You cry over spilt milk, Ivana and I bath in it.  If you’re going to throw a tantrum over losing an employee Ivana has you right where she wants you….weak and groveling.”  Carolyn says. 

Rylie pinches the bridge between her nose.  “You’re assuming I care what you think Carolyn,  l don’t.  You took that video from Langston and put it out for everybody to see thinking it would harm me.  What you failed to realize is it wasn’t me and the other person in it is the owner’s son.” 

Carolyn’s eyes widen at Rylie with realization of what she’s done.  Her face has suddenly gone pale. 

“Mm hmm….not too bright on your part.  If employees not in the executive positions get suspended or fired for doing stupid shit like that what makes you think you will be treated any different.  You’re right about one thing….Beth is my employee and she’s going to stay with me as long as I work here.”  Rylie explains.
