Date: November 2nd
Time: 8:07am
Location: Work
Mood: Anxious. As usual.
<><><>Y/n was late for work.
The anticipation was too much. It had been two days since she saw him. Two days off work. Work was where she saw Jimin. Jimin was the guy she had a crush on. All the different paths she could take next time they came face to face had crossed her mind to the point of exhaustion.
It all felt very silly. She was overthinking this entire thing. It was just a crush. Not even a big one. A little one.
Steeling herself, she marched the remaining steps over the pavement and pulled the door to the convenience store open. The smell of freshly baked pastries and warm coffee hit her senses. Saturday morning was the most busy time for this place, and probably the only reason it was able to stay open.
Jimin's cousin, her boss and owner of this place, made the best pastries around and the costumers, loyal and new alike were aware of the fact. Despite the influx of costumers that had to be helped on these days, it was Y/n's favorite because she always got a free pastry of her own.
Today, however, she swept her gaze around the establishment in search for Jimin. He was no where in sight. Not that she could accurately tell being 5'1 (154cm). The amount of people in here was disorienting and as far as she could there was a wall of giants surrounding her.
At least being as small as she was afforded her the ability to slip through unnoticed, all the way to the counter where her boss and the older woman's husband were busy at work.
"There you are!" she exclaimed when she saw her approach and slip into an apologetic bow. "I was worried about you. You're never late. Unlike my irresponsible cousin Jimin, who is never on time!" pausing mid-rant to huff, she glanced down at her hands that held two to go cups of coffee. "Oh!" she turned to hand them over to the waiting costumer. "Sorry about that."
Thankful that she was being spared the costumary novel length chattering when arriving at work, Y/n pinned her name tag to her shirt and jumped right into work with the other two.
The morning went on like that until every last pastry was sold and the coffee pots held nothing but the last remaining drops that circled the bottom. Once the flow of patrons had thinned out, Jimin's cousin had begun consistently grumbling and complaining about his lack of presence. More than once her husband had tried to calm her and each time it had seemed to help. Y/n was amazed by how it only took a single touch from him to make her happy. They stuck right next to one another too, each moving unconsciously when the other did so that they were never apart for very long. She still didn't really believe in romantic love, but these two appeared to be very dedicated. In the back of her mind she wondered if her parents were ever like that.
Morning shifted to noon and her boss's griping increased and continued all the way up to the point when it was time to leave. Ten minutes till one she let Y/n in on their plans for the afternoon while she would be stuck here at work. It was a long, detailed explanation of their upcoming date that made her feel envious over how normal and happy some people were. Why couldn't that have been her?
When the time shifted to one they both left, waving goodbye and holding hands tightly.
Then she was alone. On average that was where she wanted to be but now she worried. Fingers clenching together in anxiety, she wondered where Jimin was. At this point he was over five hours late work. That probably meant he wasn't coming. Who would bother going into work five hours late?
