"OH MY GOD!!!!!" You screamed through the house. You heard Steve thundering down the stairs before bursting through the door "Sarah?! What happened?!" He shouted, running over to you with his shield on him arm. You look up at him and shout again "I'm late!! I'm going to miss it!!! Oh my god!!!" You shouted leaping up, sprinting to the TV and turning it on. You jump back onto the sofa and wait anxiously and eagerly for the television to load up. You glance at Steve to see his face a pure expression of confusion. "Sarah, what is goi..." You cut him off by shouting in happiness. "Yes!! I didn't miss it!!" Steve looked very confused and slightly scared. "Sarah? Please explain what is going on?!" He said quite firmly. "Oh sorry Steve." You said sheepishly "There's an alternating marathon of David Tennant's Doctor Who and Sherlock! I am so excited!" You suddenly add "I think I'm going to hyperventilate." Steve's face looks less perplexed but not completely clear of confusion. "I understand that you like these programmes, but why do they make you get so... so... hyper and freaked out?" You looked at Steve and just said one word "Fangirl." His face was even more confused now "A fangirl? What is that?" "Shh!!" You say loudly as you hear David Tennant's voice fill the room.

One hour later you had said 'I ship them' so many times. Steve was getting more confused by the minute but every time he even opened his mouth you shut him up. As you reached the end of series 2 of Doctor Who you had tears in your eyes. Steve didn't understand how you could get so attached fictional characters. You had your knees tucked up under your chin and you were watching the TV with wide eyes. "It's so sad." You whispered. The episode ended and you wiped your eyes and shook yourself to prepare for the next Sherlock episode. "Oh god, I ship those two so hard." You said looking at Steve. "Who are you talking about and what do you do to them?" Steve asked, deciding it was okay to talk during the adverts. "He looked quite worried for the characters as he didn't understand what you were talking about. You looked at him and giggled. "Don't look so worried Steve!" "Well what you said doesn't sound very safe!" Steve protested. You laughed again "Steve, its fine! When you ship someone you think they should be in a relationship, with the other member of the ship, even if they are already in another relationship. Like I ship the 10th Doctor with Rose and Rory with Amy and Matt Smith's Doctor with River." you paused to see if Steve's confusion had cleared. "Normally if a pair is shipped they already have some sort of chemistry or have been together before. Or sometimes, very rarely, they have never met before - like Lestrade and Mycroft from Sherlock." Steve nodded slowly. "Okay... are these linked to ship names? I have heard of these before." You grinned, pleased that he knew something about ships. "Yes! A ship name is an amalgamation of the names of the two people in the ship. Like Lestrade and Mycroft's ship name is Mystrade and Sherlock and John is Johnlock and Sherlock and Molly is Sherlolly." Steve interrupted you "So people can be shipped in a gay relationship even if they are straight? And people can be shipped in two different ships?" You nodded "Okay... also what is a fangirl? You didn't explain."
"Oh yeah, right well a fangirl is someone who is a female fan, especially one who is obsessive about comics, film, music, or science fiction. Like you and the rest of the Avengers have lots of fangirls because of the comics about you, so you have a fandom which is like a group of fangirls." You looked to Steve again. "That makes sense?" Steve nodded "This century is so confusing!" This made you laugh out loud, quite loud. "Oh I'm sorry, but what you just said was so funny!" Steve just smiled and pulled you into his side. You turned to face the TV and sigh. "Ughhh! I missed like 15 minutes of this episode. I'll have to rewind." You grabbed the remote and started to rewind the episode. You sank into Steve's side, stretched up and gave him a quick kiss. He smiled and then began to watch the rest of the marathon with you. You did have to occasionally explain things to him, but you didn't mind as his confused face was so cute.
