"Peter put me down!" I said, struggling a bit against his strong grip. He gently placed me back on the floor.
"Sorry, I just couldn't get you away from him. I don't like him," he admitted.
"What? Why?" He seems so nice," I recalled.
"Yeah, he SEEMS nice. He isn't. And that party of his? Not so nice either," he said, crossing his arms and leaning against the lockers.
"Oh, we are going to that party, and we are gonna love it," I told him.
"Hell no. We aren't going. Parties in high school are never a good idea," he stated.
"Fine, I'll go by myself," I said walking past him. Suddenly he pulled me back and lightly pushed me against the locker.
"You won't go by yourself. It's too dangerous," he said, staring into my eyes. I felt butterflies settle in my stomach. My eyes met his gaze.
"You can't stop me from going, you know? So you can either come with me, or let me go alone," I said, confidently. He released me from his light grip that I could have freed myself from, but didn't want to.
"I guess I'm going with you then," he said, looking down. I smiled.
"Peter, I promise it will be fun and you don't regret it," I told him.
"Let's hope so," he said, before holding the door for me into the classroom.
Later, Peter and I walked to lunch together and saw MJ already sitting there alone.
"Hey MJ. Where's Ned?" I asked, looking around.
"Oh, he had to go turn in his English paper before it was late," she said, while taking a bite out of what I hoped was pasta.
"Classic Ned," Peter said as we sat down next to each other.
"MJ, you got any plans this weekend?" I asked her.
"I try to not make plans, for it can change what is meant to happen to me," she said.
"Ok well there is a party tonight at Zach's house, and Peter and I are already going. It would be so fun if you and Ned came too!" I explained. Peter shook his head.
"She's forcing me to come, even though I hate Zach," he told MJ. I lightly nudged him.
"Oh come on! I promise you will have a good time," I said enthusiastically. Peter just looked down.
"I can probably go. Parties aren't really my thing, but I guess it could be enjoyable," she said with a tiny smile.
Just then Ned came running back.
"Hey guys. What's up?" he asked.
"We are all going to a party tonight. Wanna come?" I asked.
"Can I wear my hat?" he asked, smiling.
"Uh, yeah sure!" I said. He smiled even wider.
"Really? No one else thinks it would be a bad idea to go to a high school party?" Peter spoke. Ned and MJ were silent until Ned spoke up.
"We never get invited to parties. We don't even know what they are like. Maybe they are totally tame with no alcohol or drugs," he said optimistically. Peter shrugged and looked off into the distance.
"I can probably have my aunt drive us," Peter finally said.
"That would be great!" I exclaimed.
"Alright, we all meet at Peter's house at 9:30?" Ned asked. We all nodded in agreement.
After school, I went straight home, just like my dad wanted, and had no trouble with security (thankfully).
The elevator dinged to reveal my home that I hadn't been in in a while.
"Dad?" I called throughout the house.
"Friday? Where is my dad?" I asked.
"Your father is in his workspace," her voice rang back.
"Of course he is," I muttered.
I ran down to his workspace and entered the correct password 106. I opened the door and saw my dad hunched over his desk, with a screwdriver working on some kind of tech.
"Pepper, if you are here to take away my toys you could at least say please," my dad said sarcastically.
"Um...dad?" I asked. He turned around so fast and ran to hug me.
"Y/N. I missed you hon," he said, kissing the top of my head.
"Ignore the uh...other stuff I said about Pepper," he said. I nodded.
"Whatcha working on?" I asked, peering over his junk of metal.
"Some upgrades for my suit," he said, pushing me away from it.
"Come on! I wanna see," I whined.
"Uh uh uh, no. You know this stuff is dangerous and honestly, the less you know the better," he said, turning back to his tech.
"Can I go to a party tonight?" I asked flatly. My dad stopped his work. Not a lot of phrases made him stop working on his creations.
"Absolutely not," he said.
"What?! Why not? I'll be safe. No drinking, no drugs, not that there will be any of that present! I'm going with my friends so they will keep me safe," I argued.
"Is Peter going?" my dad asked.
"Yes dad. Peter's going. Though, I had to convince him. He reeeeeeeeally didn't want to go. But after I told him I would go alone, he got so...anyways. He said that there was no way I would go alone, and so he is going with me," I told him. My dad sighed.
"Because I am the greatest dad in the world, I will let you go to the party," he said.
"Thank you dad!!" I exclaimed, hugging him from behind.
"Yeah yeah now go get ready before I change my mind," he said. I nodded and turned to go back to my bedroom.
