For the weekend I was in charge of my families bakery. We owned the best one in the outerbanks. That's what the news and publishers of magazines said anyways. We sold all kinds of pastries like pies, cookies, bread, muffins. You name it we can make it. My parents had gone to the mainland to look at possibly putting another one  of our stores over there. So for a few days I was here at work and in charge.

"Have a great day!" I smiled at the customer as he left with her food. I turned back to finish what I was doing. I had to get some cookies frosted for midsummers and I had one tray left. However before I could even start the bell from the door rang again. I turned around to see a tall boy about my age walk in. JJ Maybank. He was a pogue and best friends with John B. I new them from school but I never really talked with them. They were popular and I well, I wasn't at all.
"Hi how can I help you?" I smiled at him. He took his sunglasses off and when I saw those blue eyes I fell in love. His smile brightened the whole room and I wanted to stare at him all day. His sun kissed skin glowed form the sun coming in through the front windows.
"Hi, I'm here to pick up the cupcakes for Hayward's grocery's?" He said.
"Oh right! He said someone was coming to get them today. He's already paid so let me just get those." I said as I went to the back to grab them. Every month heywards would buy cupcakes from us and sell them at his grocery store. It gave us a lot of media and profit. They sold super quick over there so a lot of people would them come here to buy them.
"Alright here you go JJ." I said handing him the boxes. His smile fell from his face and he looked confused. Oh shit. I just said his name and he doesn't even know me! He didn't even tell me his name!
"How do you my name?" He asked me confused. My face was probably beet red.
"We uh go to school together." I said embarrassed and played with the ring on my finger.
"Oh!" He said shocked. "Well I'm that case you're gonna be at the boneyard party tonight right? It's for the school year ending." He said smiling at me. I forgot that was tonight. I've never been to one of them but if he was there I wanted to see him again.
"I'll try to be there." I said playing it off. He gave me a nod.
"Well then hope to see you there!" He smiled at me and turned around. When he went to leave he stopped though and looked back at me.
"I never caught your name?" He said to me with the prettiest smile.
"Oh I'm sorry. I'm y/n." I said trying to stop the butterflies in my stomach. He nodded and then walked out. Holy shit he was more gorgeous then I thought. I didn't know this at the time but he felt the same exact way I did. Kinda like love at first site.

JJ pov
"John B! You won't believe it!" I yelled as I ran into the chateau. He stopped mid bite on his sandwich and looked at me confused.
"What?" He asked.
"You ever met y/n? She goes to our school." I said quickly. He gave me a confused nod.
"Yeah I had a couple classes with her. Why?" He asked.
"Well I met her today. I saw her today. I had to get something for Hayward and I saw her. John B I didn't think I'd ever feel like this but he was gorgeous. Her eyes sparkled and her skin glowed against the sun from the outside." I said dreamily as I sat on the couch. John B chuckled at me state.
"Wow JJ didn't know you'd ever feel like that." He said to me. I shrugged my shoulders.
"Either did I but I do and wow." I said throwing my head back.
"Well I'd youre done talking about her we have to go get the keg for tonight." He said standing up. I stood up quickly from the couch.
"Oh right. Yeah." I said playing it off like I wasn't just gawking over y/n.

I glanced around the beach looking for her. I was glad I decided to help popes dad our today because I got to meet the most gorgeous girl ever. I felt bad that I didn't know her though. I think I've maybe seen her once or twice in school.
"Who you looking for?" Pope asked me breaking me out of my own little world.
"Oh uh no one." I said and went back to looking around.
"You still talking about y/n?" John B asked me as he came up to Pope and I.
"Y/n? As y/n who's family owns the best bakery here?" Pope said shocked.
"Yeah shut it." I said rolling my eyes. "I met her today and she said she might be here tonight." I shrugged like it was nothing. But it wasn't nothing. I wanted her here tonight. I needed her here tonight.
"Yeah right." John B laughed and scoffed. "When he got back from your dads Pope he wouldn't shut up about the gorgeous girl at the bakery." John B laughed along with Pope.
"I wouldn't really say gorgeous but thank you." A polite and soft voice said behind John B and I. I whipped around to see y/n standing there. The sun hit her perfectly and her eyes sparkled.
"Oh um uh hi. Did you hear that?" I said flustered. She chuckled.
"It's ok. Thank you. I think you're really handsome too." She said giving me the prettiest smile. I couldn't stop staring at her with the biggest smile on my face.
"JJ this is where you ask her out." John B badly whispered to me. Y/n laughed out loud. It was like music to my ears. The way her nose crinkled up when she laughed and her big smile.
"Oh right. Sorry." I said rubbing the back of my neck out of embarrassment.
"It's ok." She said grabbing my hand. "You wanna go get a beer and sit down?" She asked me. I gave her a nod and led the way to the keg. Love at first site was definitely a real thing.
