"Ready or not here I come!" I called out to my baby brother, River. My mom had to go away a lot of weekends for work so I got to watch out little brother. We had a babysitter Incase I had plans or needed to go out but I loved River and loved to watch him.
"Hmm I wonder where he could be?" I said acting like I didn't know where he was. However I could clearly see him hiding behind the sofa chair.
"Found ya!" I called and jumped behind him. He let out a laugh and hugged my legs.
"Again again!" He said excited. I bent down to pick him up in my arms.
"Aren't you getting tired?" I asked him out of breath. We've been doing some activity all day and I needed to sit down. He just shook his head no and I let him back down.
"Alright one more round but then nap time. You haven't had one today." I told him. He gave me a fast nod and ran off to go hide. I think he forgets that I have to close my eyes first. He went right back behind the sofa. He's only three, he's still learning.
Before I could start counting the front door open.
"Y/n! River!" I heard my boyfriends voice call out.
"I'm here babe." I yelled back to him. I heard some shuffling and saw him walk into the living room.
"Hey baby." He said and bent down to kiss my lips. I smiled up at him and of course kissed him back.
"Playing hide and seek with river." I said placing my hands on my hips.
"Find him yet?" He asked me and bent down to set his keys and phone on the table.
"He's hiding behind the sofa." I whispered to John B. He let out a quite chuckle.
"Alright bud I'm coming to find ya!" John B yelled and went o search around. I could river try to keep his giggles low and quite however it wasn't working out well for him.
"Hmm maybe behind the door?" John B pretended to seek. "No not there. Ok maybe....behind the couch!" He said and grabbed river when he said it. River let out a squeal of happiness.
"John B!" He said happily and threw his hands around John B neck.
"Hey buddy." John B smiled at him.
"Can we play again?" River asked him. John B looked at me for an answer but I shook my head no.
"River I told you. You need to take your nap." I said moving over to them.
River let out a whine and leaned against John B chest. He rubbed his eyes in the adorable way that toddlers and babies do.
"See your tired come on bub." I said taking him from John B arms. River wrapped his little arms around me the best he could and rested against me.
"You want your bunny?" I asked him and grabbed his favorite stuffed bunny from the couch. He gave me a tired nod.
Walking up the stairs was the hardest part. I wasn't that strong and having to carry a kid and go up a bunch of steps was not a easy task.

"Here we go." I said to myself as I laid him down in his bed. He immediately grabbed his bunny and held it close to him. I pulled his blanket over him and kissed his forehead.
"Want me to read you a book?" I asked him. He shook his head no and then let out a yawn.
"Alright. Have a good nap bub." I said kissing his head again. I turned around to see John B leaning against the door frame. He gave me a smile when he noticed me watching him.
"Come on well go downstairs." I whispered and shut rivers door.

Rivers cried startled me and made me stand up quickly. He never really cried unless he's hurt, wanting food, or trying to say something. I sprinted up the steps with John B hot in my trail. We were cuddled up on the couch talking about some movie him and JJ watched last night. I opened rivers door to see him laying in bed crying.
"Awe buddy what's wrong?" I asked quickly bending down to get him. I held him in my arms as he cried.
"River you gotta calm down. We can't understand you when you cry." John B said as River tried to get words out over his sobs. John B motioned to himself and I let him take River. I loved to watch him interact with him. It makes you think a lot about the future and how hot he looked with kids.
"Shh buddy what's wrong?" JB asked him and wiped his little tears with his thumb. River calmed down a little bit and we could finally understand him.
"Nightmare." He mumbled out and sniffled. I felt bad for him and rubbed his back lightly as John B still kept a hold of him.
"It's ok now. None of it was real. Let's go back downstairs ok?" JB said as we walked out of his room.

We sat there, River on John B lap, as we watched micky mouse clubhouse. Rivers favorite show.
"River you ok now?" I asked him as I cuddled against John B side the best I could. He gave me a nod and rubbed his eyes again. He must've still been tired. His nightmare made it so he didn't get his full nap.
"Still sleepy?" John B asked the little boy.
"Yeah." River mumbled out.
"It's alright you can go to sleep, I'll be right here." He said pushing some of rivers blond hair out of his eyes. I watched as River snuggled into John B chest and placed his thumb in his mouth. Any moment now he'd be back asleep.
John B arms were wrapped protectively around river. He cleaned his neck down to kiss the top of his head.
"You're amazing with him you know that?" I whispered to JB as I kept an eye on river.
"Thanks baby." JB smiled down at me and kissed my lips. "I guess kids just love me." He joked.
"I love you." I corrected him with a chuckle.
"I love you too babygirl." He said holding my hand. "And I love watching river because he's cute." He laughed quietly as he looked down at the sleeping toddler in his arms.
"You're even more attractive with kids." I told him.
"One day." He sighed. "One day we'll have our own." He smiled at me.
I can't wait for that day. I've thought about that day and those years so many times before. Dallas Routledge. That's what I wanted to name our kid I'd we had a girl. I just couldn't wait!
