Chapter 36

Laur's POV

Final initiation step, its different each time but then again there were currently only three other members. Yes this sounds stupid to most but hey if I do all this Aph is mine. All I gotta do is get them the money. Even if Aph weren't involved I still owed these guys a few after I left them to get busted by cops a year ago.

"Don't do this Laurence"

"Too late Aph you had the opportunity but now,"

"Please Laur no,"

"Let her go and I'll give you anything you want." Her dad offers.

Their pleading does nothing to change my mind. I stab her in the shoulder, making her hurt, making him agree to getting us the money. We loosen his hands allowing him to write us a check, one that I pass straight to Gene before the ropes tighten again.

"Good job Laurence, you are now officially a Shadow Knight again. Don't screw it up and uh get rid of him. He's of no use anymore."

Nodding I drive the blood coated blade into his heart, Aphmau screams at me to stop but I only drive it deeper. Blood gushes down his chest, flowing over my hand. I watch as the life drains out him, his body slumps, and he's dead.

"Now take the girl, don't forget to gag her."

Before I can make any moves the front door is being bashed and the police calling for us to all come out with our hands up.

"Zenix you did make sure there were no cops following right?"

"Uh I-"

"Fucking hell man, Sasha grab the fuel canister we're blowing this joint."

Gene barks at each of us and we douse the place in fuel, pouring some on Zack's lifeless body as well. I briefly glance at Aph and I notice her silently crying. Not my fault her father is a dirtbag who scams people out of their money and doesn't really care for his wife or daughter.

"Shadow Knights we need to get to the mountains split up we all go there!"

Sasha and Zenix both bolt upstairs and jump out of differing windows while Gene and I finish up with the fuel, before he lights it on fire he grabs a bag.

I pull Aph from her chair, re tie the ropes around her and stuff some in her mouth. I know where to go, I've been there only once but Gene explained it was near the Bunny Hill Lodge. He later taught me to never use a creepy abandoned house to hold hostages unless no-one knows about it. If you use a house in the middle of a suburb with a basement no-one can hear the screaming.

I drag her out the back door when I come face to face with two officers holding guns pointed straight at me. I immediately drop her and pull out my own gun, threatening to shoot Aph if they got anywhere near me, the blood on her has somewhat dried. Of course this is a bluff but they don't know that.

Several shots fire in the house and my stomach drops. I didn't want to think what happened to them.

"Lower your weapon we have you surrounded!"

"Do anything you asshole cops and I kill her!"

The police stay where they are, they know not to approach anyone armed with a hostage. Especially if they threaten to kill. What I don't notice is the officers coming from the back door each one of them grabs my arms. I'm startled, I struggle against them and in the mess of it I pull the trigger creating an ear-piercing bang. I don't know who I shot until fresh red liquid started flooding from her back.
