Chapter 40

Aaron's POV

Aph's settled very well after everything, her mother is up to date on everything and the police have taken her in for questions several times but despite it all she is doing well. She has been around me a lot at school and sometimes people try to ask questions and I tell them to back off.

"The big 18 hey potato,"

"Well I'm older than you so whatever,"

"Only by a little bit, plus most people think you're like 12,"

She jumps on me and pushes me over onto my bed, she prefers to come over here cause there's less people, plus today they be setting up a party at the Fyre's so its my job to keep her distracted. Of course I have a few ideas but its all up to her. She's sitting on top of me because hey I'll let her win on her birthday. I let my eyes wander just a little bit.

"Aaron?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think I should bring my mom?"

"What do you mean?"

"When I move here, get her to come with me."

I guess, then here mom could be here for everything and I know Aph would worry about her too much if she was left in Spain alone. Plus one day I'm going to meet her and ask her blessing, hopefully we can last that long. I don't know how she does it, but she does deal with everything well, even if I think she'd hiding something from me.

"So what do you want to do now?"

"Cuddle and watch a movie please,"

I grab my tv remote and she cuddle onto my chest, settling down to watch a movie I let her pick because she'd pull the birthday girl card and she switches on a movie I've never seen before. I pull the blanket up over us and cuddle her close to me. She still has nightmares and hasn't been sleeping to well.

"The sky's awake so I'm awake so we have to play,"

I never would have guessed this as her favourite movie but low and behold it is. I kinda just sit through it and she hummed all the songs which means she knows this movie off by heart, honestly its cute and I'm happy she can be chilled out in such a way even after disaster.

"The cold never bothered me anyway,"

Like I said, cute. At about halfway I look down and notice she's fallen asleep on my chest, which can only be a good thing because she sure needs it. I let her sleep until I get a text from Garroth saying its all prepped and we can come back now.

"Aph wake up baby,"

"Nuu, I wanna sleep."

"You don't have a choice short arse"

She looks up at me and knees my thigh quite close to my crotch area, I think she intentionally missed it but damn that would've hurt she is quite strong.

"Ok Aph I'm driving you home, Eric said he wanted you back before lunch,"

"Seriously?"

"Yes now don't make me carry you to the car you short potato,"

"Fine then, carry me,"

I pick her up and take her downstairs and out to my new car, I'm slowly trying to get into driving again and this time I always park more attentively. That's when I plop her in the front seat and wander over to the driver's seat and slowly drive us both to Eric's house. Usually I have Melissa or mum drive me but today is special. He's been off since Elizabeth left but also seems happier.

"Ok we're here."

She jumps out of her seat and wanders up to the front door, I follow up behind her and when she pushes open the door confetti is thrown at her face.

"HAPPY BIRTTHDAY APH!"

She's taken back by all of the decorations and people there it must be a life defining moment. Everyone gathers in for a group hug except Katelyn, who's very close to her due date now. I knew this would happen and I notice her eyes glisten over with tears, happy ones of course, and she gets all excited when Eric comes over holding an Ipad with her mom on video call.

After they chat for a bit we all get in and party, Katelyn decided to play DJ cause she would be sitting down most of the time and Travis sat with her a lot chatting about baby stuff, names, parenting things and all that. Nobody wanted to get her anything too big that would be a hassle getting back to Spain so we all pitched in and got her a photo album, each of us added pictures that we have taken of us and we left the last pages blank so she could add more from the end of the year.

"Thanks guys, this has been the best birthday ever."

"You know you're one of us, you always will be."
