Chapter 7

"Everyone rested up? Good. Now, then. The Hunter Exam Committee runs this hotel, so I want all of you to make yourselves at home until the battles have concluded. For the Final Phase of the Hunter Exam, we will be competing in a one-on-one tournament." Netero said, removing the cloth from the board that was just rolled in.

It was the battle chart. I tuned out the explanation until he removed the seal, allowing us to see who was against whom. I'd be fighting the loser from the match between Gon and Hanzo, which was going to be the latter.  

I ignored the following conversation, not exactly interested. I saw Gon and Hanzo head towards the center. With a deep breath, I braced myself for the fight I was about to watch. The fight began and Gon ran past Hanzo, who quickly caught up to him and hit the back of Gon's neck with the sharp of his hand. 

Gon's face contorted in pain while I kept up a poker face. 

"Not half bad, for a little kid." Hanzo said as Gon fell to the ground. 

The fight continued for more than three hours and all I could do was watch. Oh, how much I felt like killing that ninja. I was barely able to hold in my bloodlust. Leorio was shaking in anger.

"Enough already! I'm gonna kill you, you hear me? Pick on someone your own size," He yelled. I clenched my fists so hard that my nails pierced the skim of my palm.

"If you can't take it, you batter leave. It's only going to get worse," Hanzo looked at Leorio.

"What did you say?!" He was about to step in when two judges moved in front of him, stopping him.

"There will be no interference in a one-on-one match. Stay back. If you try to help him in any way, Gon will be disqualified!"

"It's okay. Leorio. This is nothing, really. I can still fight him," Gon reassured Leorio in a strained voice.

Hanzo swiped his feet from under him. "I'll break your arm. I'm not kidding, so say it. Say you surrender."

"Never!" Gon shouted. A sickening crack filled the room and I couldn't hold in my bloodlust anymore.

It engulfed the area around me. Killua looked shocked at the amount of bloodlust that leaked from me, Kurapika concerned, Hisoka amused and Leorio terrified. 

I felt a hand land on my shoulder and I turned to look at Killua, "Calm down,"

Taking in a breath, I reactivated my Zetsu and nodded at my friend in thanks.

"There. Now you won't be able to use your left arm anymore," I registered Hanzo's words.

Leorio was grinding his teeth in anger, "Don't try to stop me, Kurapika. If that bastard tries anything else, Gon will fail the Exam because I won't be able to stop myself."

"Me? You think I'll stop you? Don't worry, there is no chance of that." The blond's eyes flashed scarlet before returning to normal.

Hanzo babbled on about he had started training since birth and blah, blah, blah when Gon kicked him in the face, causing him to fall from his handstand.

"Ouch. Dammit! Between my pain and your blabbing, I don't know what cleared my head more. If you're eighteen, then you're just six years older than me. besides, this isn't a battle to see who's stronger; it's a battle to see who will surrender first." said Gon.

I closed my eyes and waited for this fight to end. Soon, it did with Hanzo surrendering and Gon being taken to have his broken arm set.

The next fight, Kurapika vs Hisoka, started. They fought for a while until Hisoka leaned close to Kurapika's ear and whispered what I knew to be, "Concerning the Spiders..."
