Light Me Up

Chapter 14 : Wake Up

I sat in the library, while Damon poured himself a drink. Bonnie still wasn't awake and this new piece of information was screwing with us. I didn't know what to believe. What if Rayna was lying I thought to myself, trying to remain hopeful. What if Bonnie wakes up and is perfectly fine. 

"Rayna screwed us!" He exclaimed "She failed to mention that by giving Bonnie her life , she was actually giving Bonnie her lifestyle. So now when Bonnie wakes up, she's gonna be Rayna 2.0."

"And does that gift begin with a very long nap?" I asked, not caring about Rayna or the huntress thing

"I didn't get a chance to ask as she burst into flames." He scowled

I sighed, annoyed

"And before you ask, no, I did not get a chance to interrogate her little shaman friend, because he vanished at the same time."

"Damon! Did the spell work or not!" I yell losing my patience

"I don't know Enzo!" He answered, I exhaled "I have no idea why she's not waking up."

I turned away not sure what to do

"I mean, the least she could do to thank us for saving her life is just open her eyes, let us know whether or not she wants to murder us." Damon continued

I thought about it for a second before it hit me. It was Bonnie. If she knew she had to kill the people she loved if she woke up, she would do anything she could to keep them safe, even if it meant she could never wake up.

"What if she doesn't?" I replied

"What?" Damon questioned

"Oh, you know her as well as I do." I told him "Waking up means she'll have to kill us. So what if the reason Bonnie isn't waking up is because she's Bonnie?"

Damon's eyes widened understanding what I meant. 

"Sounds like we need back up" He scoffed downing the last of his drink

"Rayna used to say that she had to kill me, but she didn't want to. She could sense my humanity through some sort of psychic link." Stefan explained "So if Bonnie's fighting the same war in her head, we need to give her some ammunition."

We were all sitting in the parlor of the Salvatore house, figuring out what to do. Bonnie was still unconscious when we lay her down in one of the bedrooms. 

"What, so one of us needs to delve into her subconscious, and... do what exactly?" I asked

"Convince her hunter-brain that not all vampires are selfish vicious monsters." Damon piped up "Which is exactly why I'm the worst person for the job."

"She's my girl" I stated "I'll do it" 

Caroline walked in

"No it should be me" She said "I was her best friend before I was a vampire. I can show her the difference between the two."

"She's right" Stefan said

I nodded "Alright"

After a Stefan sped out of the room holding Caroline. I stared in shock and went into the room where Damon was. 

"What's going on?" I asked 

"Bonnie marked her" Damon explained "Stefan's taking her away" 

"She can mark people in her head?" I asked 

"Yep!" Damon replied "So if you go in there and fail..." He makes a face

My eyes widened. So either I get through to her or I'm cursed to die in the hands of the woman I love?
