I stare at the tuning fork in my hand, still confused.
"You seriously didn't hear it?" I ask Enzo. Was I just going crazy?
"I heard it... it just sounded like what it is" He shrugs "A tuning fork"
"Yeah well it gave me a splitting headache" I tell him "Ric said it hurt the girls' ears too... maybe it's a signal that only witches can hear"
"Please tell me those siren wretches aren't also witches" Enzo snarks "They sully the name"
"My grams used to say that all witchcraft was rooted in psychic energy" I say, thinking "Before I knew I had magic, I believed I was psychic"
"Hmmm"
"And that's what the sirens are" I continue "And Cade... Oh gross we're all connected" I make a face.
"All the more reason to get the hell out of Dodge" Enzo replies
My mind wanders back to this upcoming Christmas present trip to Paris. Then I remember that I had gotten Enzo a gift too. It was when I went to get the gasoline to burn the cabin down, I thought that if it worked, with Christmas coming up, I should get him something.
"Um, you should know that I bought you T-shirts" I tell him, hearing how stupid it sounds as soon as it leaves my mouth. "Figured you were tired of me sleeping in yours" I add, trying to justify it.
Enzo shakes his head, his face confused, clearly not understanding the situation.
"You're taking me to Paris, and I bought you T-shirts" I reiterate, not being able to hold back from laughing. He smiles too, letting out a chuckle "T-shirts! I suck"
I sigh turning away, when I feel him grab my hand. I turn back to look at him
"Bonnie Bennett" He starts, taking his eyes of the road to look at me. I can already tell he's going to say something sappy. I press my lips together to keep from smiling "You are the gift I've always wanted" He finishes. He pulls my hand up to his lips and kisses it softly and I can't help but let a smile slip through.

"So what are we going to see?" I ask Enzo.
After we got home, we'd packed a few essentials, but pretty light, and gone off to the airport right away.
"Paris is the fashion capitol, there's no need to bring your half unburnt closet" Enzo had said
I rolled my eyes "This is just about your weird vendetta against sweatpants isn't it?"
He shrugged, but I didn't push it further. After all why would I deny a fully sponsored shopping spree down the Champs-Élysées?
Now we were sitting at our boarding gate after Enzo had managed to get us last minute tickets for a flight leaving at 11:30pm. We'd gotten to the airport a little past 9 but after going through security and everything it was almost 10:30 now.
"Whatever you want to see" Enzo replies. He was fully engrossed in some book. I lean into his shoulder.
"Well obviously there are the typical places you know... Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Notre Dame... but I was hoping you'd have some more insight you know? Hidden gems you wanna take me to?"
He laughs looking away from his book to meet my eyes. "Of course I will, luv" Suddenly his smile fades and his eyes turn worrisome. He reaches his hand out to touch my face. "When's the last time you ate something?"
I shrug "I don't know... lunch?"
Enzo sighs "Bonnie we had lunch at like 11 today"
"Well I thought we were going to have dinner at Caroline's but that didn't exactly work out" I retort "I'm fine, I'm not that hungry"
