Janus appeared in the mindscape. "Where am I?" He asked himself. "Hello?" He heard a voice behind him. "Oh. Hello. I'm deceit." Janus said. "Why hello deceit! I'm Patton! I'm Thomas' morality!" Patton shook Janus' hand vigorously. "Hm. Thomas. Is that who we are a part of?" He asked. "I mean I assume so! I'm also new. Let's check on him!" Patton said. He grabbed Janus' hand and took him outside the mindscape. "Aw! A baby!" Patton's eyes lit up. "That's Thomas." Janus murmured. He was already infatuated with the child. "He's our responsibility now!" Patton smiled. Janus enjoyed his smile.

So that's what they did. They took care of Thomas. They were talking when they heard a crash. "What did he do?" Patton asked. They loomed at Thomas broke a vase. He was 5. "Time to sort this out." Janus said. Thomas loved cartoons, so Patton and Janus played with that. They taught him like a shoulder angel and devil.

"Tell the truth Thomas!" Patton said. Thomas looked unsure. "No. Tell your mom it was your brother!" Janus said, they were actually on Thomas' shoulders. But Janus never actually made him lie. He had to make Thomas a good person. So he always let Patton win. It was like a show they put on for Thomas. They were good caretakers.

"Deceit! Guess what!" Patton ran up to Janus. "What is it Pat?" Janus asked. "Thomas is starting school! Oh how fun!" Patton grinned. Janus was just as excited. "That's exciting!" He replied. He was being sarcastic. Patton laughed. "Don't be all sassy! I know you're excited! Best friend." Patton stated. Janus' eyes widened. Patton and him never really established they were best friends. Janus never wanted to let go of Patton.

After Thomas' first day, Patton met up with Janus. "Did you see him! He learned so much!" Patton smiled and hugged Janus. Janus smiled. Patton was just happy no matter the circumstance. That made Janus smile as well.

"Um, salutations?" Someone said behind them. Patton spun and saw another side. "Hi! I'm Patton! Thomas' morality!" Patton hugged the side. "My name is Logan. I'm Thomas' logic." Logan replied. "Hey De-what?" Patton turned but his smile dropped. Janus was gone.

Janus popped into somewhere darker. "Huh? Patton?" He called. Then someone walked up to him. It was a child. "I'm Remus. Have you seen my brother? His name is Roman. He has a red sash?" Remus asked. "Uh no. Where are we?" Janus asked. "I'm not sure. I'm a little scared." The child said. Janus let his parental instincts for Thomas kick in to help Remus. "It's alright. Shh. What do you represent to Thomas?" Janus asked. "Um, creativity? But a different one." Remus stated. Janus looked confused. "What do you mean?" He pressed. "I-well-I kinda make him think about not so good stuff unlike Roman. Like jumping out of a moving car or-" Janus stopped him. "Intrusive thoughts then? That's what it sounds like." Janus said. Remus shrugged. "It's okay. I'll help guide you through this."

Every day, Janus waited. And waited. He wanted to see Patton again.

Patton's pov

"Pat? Are you alright?" Roman, who was also a child, asked. "Uh yeah!" Patton wiped the tears from his eyes. "Um, okay." Roman said as he walked away. But Patton wasn't alright. He missed Deceit. His best friend. If only he knew how Deceit felt about him.

"So, we have dark sides of ourselves?" Logan asked. "Yeah, evil things." Roman said. "Well I don't know about evil or dark-" Patton murmured. "What do you mean? They only cause harm!" Roman said. Patton shrugged. "You don't know that. They could just be misunderstood." Patton defended. "Don't be silly, Patton. They're no good." Logan adjusted his glasses.

Patton walked back to his room. He looked out his window to the mindscape. No sign of Deceit anywhere. Patton thought.

"Time to help Thomas." Logan said. "Ooh! Yay! But who's gonna be the shoulder devil?" Patton asked. Logan and Roman looked at him like he was crazy. "N-nevermind. How are we gonna help him?" He asked. "Just appear in front of him." Roman said it like it was common knowledge. "Oh, yeah, obviously." Patton smiled.

After they helped Thomas, Patton rushed back to his room. He messed with the cardigan that Janus gave him.

Janus' pov

Janus looked at Roman and Logan with disgust. They decided to visit. "Did that idiot Patton come?" Janus asked. "No. He's feeling down. He was just looking at his cardigan sadly." Logan replied. Janus' eyes widened. He smiled a little. Patton was thinking of him. But he got serious real quick. "It's totally not a problem that you're intruding." Janus hissed. "Why do you care? You probably intrude every day, snake." Roman pat Janus on the head. "Fuck you." Janus said. "Aww! So cute. You try to defend yourself but you know we're better." Roman smiled.

Before they both left, Janus grabbed Logan's arm. "Take care of Thomas for me." He started to cry. Logan grimaced and swiped his arm away. "You could never protect him." Logan said as he walked off. Janus stared in shock. He cried more and sat on the ground.

(First chapter! Ya like it? It's gonna get way more angsty so don't think it gets better soon. Hope this is as good as my other stories)
