You think everything would be fine now. You were wrong. Janus paced around the house, all day. After the talk with Remus, Janus realized that he still wasn't a light side. He looked all over the house but no room had appeared for him. It had been about a month since Janus came.
"Baby? You okay?" Patton asked. "I'm having doubts on whether I should be here or not." Janus said truthfully. "What do you mean by that?" Patton was getting worried. "A room still hasn't appeared for me. It did when Virgil came. I don't where I would've gone if we hadn't started dating. Maybe I'm just not meant to be here." Janus explained. "Nonsense. Who cares that Thomas' brain has a different plan for you. It's cliche but you can make your own destiny." Patton reassured. Janus nodded and agreed. But the doubt still lingered there.
Once Logan and Virgil found out what happened about the planned break up, they were warmer towards Janus. Yes even Virgil. "Hey Virg, can I talk to you?" Janus asked. Virgil was a little surprised. Janus hadn't called him Virg since....oh yeah. "Uh, sure?" He said reluctantly. Janus sat next to Virgil. "Did a room for you appear right when you came or did it take time?" Janus asked. "Once I made the decision to leave, it appeared. I wasn't even in the mind palace yet." Virgil answered nervously. Janus nodded and his hopes were slightly crushed. "Why are you asking me this?" Virgil asked. "A room hasn't appeared for me yet and I'm wondering if I'm supposed to be here." Janus felt like lying to Virgil would just cause more problems. "Oh, well-uh-it's hard to comfort someone I hated for so long but uh-look, it wouldn't have mattered if there was a room for you anyway. You're with Patton in his bedroom. And a single physical room can't place where "You're supposed to be." Not everything is laid out for you like us. You need to go off the path sometimes." Virgil tried to say with utmost confidence.
Janus smiled a little. "That totally didn't help!" Janus mocked. Virgil smiled. Janus forcefully pulled Virgil into a hug. Virgil moved away after a while. "Actually though, I never wanted this light side dark side thing to separate us. Other than the fight, there was no reason for us to hate each other. Truly, I was happy you were happy. I only wanted the best for you. But I couldn't see that the best....wasn't with me." Janus said. Virgil just stared at him. But tears welles up in his eyes. He dived to get another hug. "I feel lime Roman should be in my place." Janus joked. "Current boyfriend, ex boyfriend, same thing." Virgil said, a little muffled.
Janus sighed as he had a glass of wine with him. It was late at night so Patton couldn't scold him for drinking so much. But Roman came down and found him. "Oh, hey." Roman greeted. Janus waved a little but hid a smile. Roman sounded not hostile. "What're you doing up so late?" Roman asked, filling a cup with water. "Eh, I need a drink and Pat can't catch me. Had a rough day." Janus admitted. He wasn't sober enough to lie. Roman laughed a little and sat down. "Wanna talk about it?" He asked.
"I just feel like that I was never supposed to be here. Like I don't belong. Thomas' brain is telling me that I should stay a dark side." Janus finished speaking. But Roman never rolled his eyes or scoffed once. He was considerate to how Janus was feeling. "Yeah, I probably don't help in the situation. You know, being mean yo you and everything. But I know you do belong. You fit in better than me for fuck sake! We wouldn't have it any other way." Roman smiled. Janus looked into Roman's face. He was smiling warmly and his eyes were full of trust. Janus knew he was telling the truth. "Thanks, Ro. That actually helps a lot." Janus said. Roman's eyes widened a little but he nodded and got up to leave, back to his room. But Janus got up and grabbed his wrist. Roman turned to him in confusion. "Can we....be on better terms now?" Janus asked. "I would like that. We should both get to bed now." Roman said. Janus smiled and nodded as the two separated.
Janus got into bed and cuddled Patton happily that night. Things were finally looking up.
