Janus woke up and looked at himself in the mirror. He was feeling insecure about his scales recently. He looked at the right side of his face and frowned. He realized that he was more snake-like than he wanted to be. "I'll just hide in my room until I don't feel weird about them anymore." He concluded.
As Janus sat in Patton's bed, (a room still hadn't appeared), he wondered why these insecurities were only until now. He guessed that it was because everyone else was normal looking. I mean, Virgil used to be part spider but now he's more like a cat. And he's left Remus, who had the octopus tentacles. Janus groaned. Why did he feel so alienated?
Then Janus remembered Patton. His boyfriend was the most human like out of all of them. And Janus was the most non-human like out of all of them. That brought Janus right back to him being worse than Patton. How has Patton had consideration and kindness to date me!? I mean, after Virgil's slut comment, I'm scared that's how Patton sees me now. Janus thought. He just wanted to crawl in a corner and die. "Janus! You coming down?" Patton called. Janus sighed. "I don't want them to know I'm insecure so I won't try to cover them. I'll just wear my hat a little lower than normal." He said as he pit his hat on and went down.
Janus finished quickly, like always. He decided to wash the dishes since he'd be facing away from the others. "Awww! Thank you Jan!" Patton kissed Janus and walked off. Janus could feel Virgil's and Roman's gaze burning into his back. He heard whispering behind him. Janus wanted to whip around and stick up for himself but didn't want to cause trouble. Or show his face.
Janus decided to confide in Logan. He might understand. Janus knocked on Logan's door and Logan granted entrance. "Hey, can we talk?" Janus asked. Logan turned around in his desk chair. "Yes? What is it?" He coaxed. "I've been feeling insecure, about my scales." Janus admitted. Logan tilted his head in interest. Patton did the same thing. That was another commonality between the two nerds. "I think it's because all of you are so normal, and I'm-well-me." Janus said, taking off his hat. "Well, I know that we all find them quite interesting. Even Roman has told me he kinda likes them." Logan smirked as he mentioned Roman. Janus' eyes widened a little and he smiled. "Even Patton?" Janus asked. Logan laughed and went over to Janus. "Especially Patton." Logan put his hand on Janus' shoulder. Janus looked up at him and smiled. He started to tear up as he lunged and hugged Logan.
Janus was just sitting on the bed when a force sat on him. All the air left Janus but he was able to barely laugh. "A little birdy told me you're insecure about your scales." Patton said. Janus blushed and nodded. Patton got off and kissed Janus. "I love them. They make you different! It's like with Virgil. He didn't feel like he fit in at one point. But he realized he didn't have to. He knew that we loved him no matter what. Same with you. We love you. I love you." Janus whimpered as he buried his face in Patton's chest. Patton laughed and hugged him. Janus looked at his boyfriend and stuck his tongue out. "Biggest top I've ever seen." Patton joked. "Oh shut up." Janus said.
Patton decided that he wanted for Janus to not be insecure. "That's it. You talk big about self care but don't do it yourself!" Patton dragged Janus into the bedroom. "I got new clothes and you're going to try them on stat!" Patton handed Janus a jumble of clothing. "I'm not-" Janus started but Patton was already pushing him into the large closet.
When he came back out, Patton squealed. Janus still had his bowler hat but was wearing a snake necklace, almost like a choker. He had a cropped yellow button up and ripped black jeans. "Makeup. Now." Patton ordered sternly. Janus was scared what Patton will do to him so he just nodded.
"Are you almost done?" Janus complained. "Hold. Still." Patton growled. When they were done, Janus looked at himself in the mirror. He had gold eyeshadow with thick, winged eyeliner, and black lipstick.
(Basically what it looked like in my head)
Janus was in awe at Patton's skill. "Wouldn't Virgil or Roman be better? I didn't know you could do this." Janus said. Patton shrugged.
When they were finally done, Patton shoved Janus in front of the others. "Look! At! His! Beauty!" Patton pointed at them angrily. Logan pushed up his glasses in surprise, Virgil just sat there gaping, and Roman clapped a little. Janus blushed. "Is there a more exquisite human?! I DON'T THINK SO!" Patton said. Janus adjusted his hat. "Oh I'm totally not embarrassed at all!" Janus whispered. "Good!" Patton said. Janus knew that Patton knew it was sarcasm. But he chose to ignore it with sass. "Time to show the world!" Patton said as he dragged Janus along.
(Hey, sorry. I had to bump up the moceit at the end there. We're not done yet don't worry. Also, sorry if it seemed a little one shot like.)
