Janus and Patton dealt with it forever. "Ugh! Roman, why are you doing this?" Patton asked. "I'm looking out for you! Just drop him before he drops you!" Roman pleaded. "No!" Patton ran from Roman and hid in Virgil's room. "Pat? You good?" Virgil asked. Patton sighed. "How did your break up with Janus go? Can I have details?" Patton asked back. "Oh! Uh-well we broke it off and he threatened to hurt me." Virgil simplified. Patton's eyes widened. "Wait, really?" Payton said. Virgil nodded. Patton didn't want to believe it.
"Remus! Hey, how did you break things off with Janus?" Patton ran to Remus. Remus looked at him then smirked. "Why?" He asked. "I wanna prove Roman that he won't leave me and that he has a big heart. Please." Patton begged. Remus sighed. "I'm not a good source. Janus dumped me and was horrible about it." Remus admitted. Patton stepped back a little. "No no no no no no no no!" Patton turned sharply and ran. "He's good I know he is!" Patton said to himself as he ran back to the mind palace.
Janus was also having trouble. But giving in easier. "He hates you, just admit it. There's a reason he's been avoiding you. He just can't fake it anymore." Remus said happily. This was putting Janus in a depressive state. He just aimlessly walked around the palace, not fighting Remus' words anymore. He just let more and more fill his head until he cried. That was the routine. Remus would make Janus feel bad, the words would stick, Janus would do nothing but walk around, Remus would leave once Janus cried, repeat. But Janus didn't show anything to the others. Patton was rubbing off on him. He didn't want to be a bother.
"Toodles, freak!" Remus blew a kiss as he left back to the mindscape. Janus fell to his knees. It felt like a dark cloud was looming over him. He didn't feel anything. He was numbing. But he still had one feeling. Sadness. He completely collapsed and silently cried.
Patton didn't want to give in but Janus kept avoiding him. "Please god, don't let it be true!" Patton whispered. "Oh but it is! He doesn't care about you. He never has. You know he's a liar. So he's good at faking. Dump his ass before he does. It's either let your heart be broken or be the heart breaker. He deserves it. He doesn't deserve love or kindness. Let him die emotionally. He's already half way there." Roman explained. "You are just like your brother! Evil." Patton turned. Roman jumped a little. "Janus was right! About everything! We're. Not. Friends." Patton growled. He stormed off before Roman could speak. But Patton was finally starting to believe it. He didn't want to but the more Roman talked, the more Janus avoided him, the less there was to prove that he was good.
Janus wanted to break up with Patton finally. Remus won. Remus got him to believe that Patton didn't want him. That he was worthless. But Janus had to find the right time. "Um, tomorrow. My shift will be with Remus and Virgil tonight so it won't be awkward being in the same bed. Ugh, I should've known!" Janus murmured to himself. Pity. Sympathy. Hate. All those words still rattled in Janus' head. Was Janus just unlovable? Was he just destined to never find someone? Probably since Patton was his last option.
Patton was also believing it. He began to think that Janus only wanted to hurt him. This entire time. (Which in hindsight is kinda dumb). "But I still love him! I know he doesn't love me but it's so hard to let go." Patton told Roman. He finally gave in and let Roman be his friend again. He thought Roman was looking out for him. Key word: thought. "Oh I know. But you have to. For your own good. And maybe he'll even learn his lesson to toy with so many hearts." Roman pulled Patton into a hug. But he made a large, sinister smile that Patton couldn't see. "He'll learn. I bet he already has." Roman finished.
"I'll do it tomorrow. I just can't face him today. It would be too much." Patton said. Roman nodded attentively. "I need to be off now! Have to help Thomas." Roman said before walking off.
Roman's pov
Roman ran once he was out of sight. He ran to the mindscape, where Remus would be. "So how'd it go?" Roman asked once he got there. "Janis is gonna break up with him tomorrow!" Remus squealed happily. "Oh jolly good! Patton was thinking the same!" Roman replied. The twins sighed out of relief simultaneously. "I feel kinda bad though." Remus said. "Why? That snake is finally getting what he deserves! And no harm comes to Patton because I let him blame Janus instead of himself. He wronged you and I. He finally gets a taste of his own medicine!" Roman persuaded. "You're right. Maybe he does need this." Remus agreed.
