It happened again. In the morning Janus was holding Patton close. Patton was sleeping peacefully. Janus guessed it was just kinda muscle memory to wake up early from Remus' nonsense. Remus. Janus was brought to that night. "You fucking hypocrite." Rattled in Janus' head. What did I do to him? I left after two other people left him. No! This is for the best. He needs time alone. Re, I did love you. Just not in the way I thought. I wish we could still be best friends. Janus held his head. He had a headache.
He got up and made breakfast again. This time Logan was willing to eat. They sat down and talked. "Thank you." Janus thanked. "What? Why? What'd I do?" Logan clarified. "Thank you for being open minded again. I feel bad for Pat being the only one to defend me. The only one that liked me." Janus said. Logan nodded in understanding. "If you don't mind, what happened with Remus exactly?" Logan asked. Janus sighed and adjusted his hat. "I broke it off and he didn't take it well. He called me hypocrite from-you know-Virgil." Janus said. Logan stood up. "Thank you for breakfast, Janus. I need to go." Logan said quickly as he left the mind palace.
The other sides woke up and ate again. Roman decided on the silent treatment. Virgil would mumble a hello when they passed but nothing more. Janus sighed. Two down. Two to go. Janus didn't expect Remus to ever forgive him. And he understood.
Janus and Patton hadn't even kissed. But the last two nights made it more and more appealing. They were baking together and the others weren't surprised. Logan still wasn't back though. "Hey ba-Jan? Can you pass me the flour?" Patton asked. Janus laughed and nodded, passing him a bag. "Thanks!" Patton gave a bright smile. Janus gave a smirk. Today was good day. Janus slept well, it was bright day in Thomas' mind and light shone through, and Janus was with Patton.
Janus blushed whenever Patton smiled at him. He never did with anyone else because Patton was so happy. He always hugged Janus just because. Janus ruffled Patton's hair. Patton laughed and flicked flour at him. Janus smiled widely and Patton gasped. "I never noticed your fangs!" Patton said. Janus stuck his forked tongue out. "I've never noticed. How do you eat with those?" Patton asked as he poured in milk. "I eat things whole. I'm actually glad you never noticed. It's a little creepy." Janus answered nervously. Patton laughed again. "You could never be creepy!" Patton replied. Janus nodded. This is the moment Jan! He's waiting for you to make a move! I wanna kiss him but I'm like three inches shorter! Just go for his cheek instead. Janus thought. So that's what he did. He kissed Patton on the cheek. Patton gasped. Janus blushed and gave an awkward smile. Patton turned slowly and squealed. He dove and pulled Janus into a hug, lifting him off the ground.
"Does this mean we're-" Janus started, barely able to breathe. "Yes." Patton whispered as he came face to face with Janus and kissed him. That's when Virgil walked in. "Uhhh-I'm gonna go. Tell me when those are done." Virgil pointed to the half made cookies. He backed out of sight. Patton and Janus slowly turned to each other. They stared for a while before bursting out laughing. Janus had never felt this happy. Well, he had once. That was when he met Patton and they were best friends. And now Patton was his-boyfriend.
Logan finally came back at two pm once Janus and Patton finally finished the cookies. "Hey Logan!" Patton waved as he took off his apron. Logan looked like a deer in headlights. "Ugh. You smell like Remus' deoderant." Patton mentioned. Janus locked eyes with Logan. "Uh yeah, I'll change." Logan said as he quickly ran to his room.
Janus walked in on Logan. Logan was looking at a book, pretending that he didn't just pull out a random book when he heard Janus walk to his door. "The hell. Were you at Remus'?" Janus asked. Logan looked up at him and shook his head. "I know you're lying. It's fine if you were with him. I think he needs it." Janus sighed as he sat down on the bed next to Logan. "Wait, really?" Logan was shocked. Janus nodded and took his hat off. "I don't hate Remus, Remus hates me. And I get it. I abandoned him. I'm glad there's someone there for him." Janus smiled as a small tear rolled down his face. "Hm. Well, thank you for not killing me for talking to him." Logan put his hand on Janus' shoulder. Janus wiped the tear and looked at Logan with a mischievous smile. "So are you two like-dating?" Janus asked. Logan groaned and Janus laughed. "Yeah I guess you could say that. We kissed before I left." Logan admitted. Janus clapped. "I'm happy for him- and you too!" Janus said. Logan rolled his eyes. "Just wanted to know how he was doing." Janus said. "He's doing better. I think he'll survive." Logan joked as Janus left. "Good. Take good care of him for me." Janus ordered as he closed the door.
