Roman's pov
Roman huffed as he saw Janus and Patton kiss. Again. He had enough. "I need to go talk to Remus! I'll be okay." Roman already reassured Virgil.
When he got there, Remus was looking at the ceiling from a chair. "You good?" Roman asked. "Eh. Boring ever since Janus left." Remus admitted. "Well, time to make him regret it."
Janus' pov
Patton was in charge of Thomas for the night. So Janus was alone as he slept. He pities you. You're nothing to him. Janus couldn't escape the horrible nightmare. The voice was ringing in his ear as he ran to a silhouette of Patton. His boyfriend turned and his eyes were all black as he was crying. "Pat?" Janus asked. But Patton faded away like ashes in the wind. "Patton wait! I need you!" Janus yelled into the darkness. Do you though? He sure doesn't need you. He doesn't really love you. He just feels bad that you're all alone. The voice was familiar but it was echo-y so it was hard to pinpoint. "No. Stop. Get out of my head." Janus covered his ears. Sympathy. Pity. That's all it is. Pretty sure he still hates you. You impersonated him after all. He hates you. "I said get out!" Janus yelled.
Janus sat up, gasping for air. His eyes flicked around the room. He was in a cold sweat. He watched as a flash of green left the dark room, closing the door. "Remus?" Janus whispered.
The next morning, Janus didn't dare face Patton all day. He wanted to just ask and he could tell if Patton was lying or not. But he didn't want Patton to think he was unsure of them dating. The words burned into Janus' brain. He hates you. Pity. Sympathy. Janus groaned. Why would Remus do that? Was he jealous? Janus was mad at himself for not knowing even though there was no way he could know.
Patton's pov
Patton was anxious. Janus was avoiding him for some reason. He wanted ask but didn't want to seem clingy. "Maybe he just had a bad dream and wants some space. Yeah, that's it." Patton said hopefully. "Or he wants to break it off." Roman murmured behind him. "Why would he? I thought he was happy with me?" Patton asked. "Come on, Pat. He's got no loyalty. He dated Virgil and Remus. He just wants to pick through all of us and break our hearts." Roman smirked. "No, that can't be it." Patton denied. "Oh but it is. He's deceit after all. He's heartless. Nothing good in there." Roman said. "That's wrong. I've seen the good part of him. He would never." Patton faced Roman. "Let me get this straight, gay, you want to trust a liar? It won't end good for you. Just end it now. He can't be hurt if there's nothing to damage." Roman whispered. "I said no. You're wrong. Ro, I love you, but you're wrong. He loves me and I know it." Patton whisked away. But Roman's words wouldn't leave. Heartless. Liar. Not loyal. And it started to affect Patton. He didn't want to believe it. But what if he was right? "No! He's good. I know he is. Roman is still just mad at Janus." Patton shook his head.
Janus' pov
Janus bumped into Patton. "Oh, hey babe." Janus greeted. But this time Patton was cold towards him. He just nodded and passed Janus. No smile. He didn't even look at him. Janus' heart dropped. All the way to his feet. There was an emptiness. Usually when Patton smiled at him, his whole world brightened and Janus felt full of warmth and joy. But Patton barely acknowledging him made everything go dark. How did Janus survive not being around him for years? His life wasn't complete until Patton. That made him feel worse. That meant he only led Virgil and Remus on, never actually loving them. Maybe that's why Remus did this. Remus. Janus remembered. It was Remus. He couldn't be telling the truth. He knew nothing about Patton. Janus knew Patton. At least he thought he did. He hoped he did.
That night, Janus and Patton didn't touch at all. It felt cold for Janus. But not just physical. Emotionally cold as well. As if spark was caught in a snowstorm. Gone so quickly. Janus huffed and buried deeper in the blankets. He fell asleep after a while.
Janus woke up in the imagination. He looked around and there was a monster behind him. It was Patton. But he had no mouth and had arms coming from his back. Again, his eyes were black and he was crying. See? No ability to tell you what he really feels, no warmth or feeling in his eyes, and so many arms to strangle him. To restrict his breathing. Which is how he feels about you. Restricting. You're clingy, a liar, and a cheater. Just leave him for Logan why don't you? It won't be a surprise. "Just leave me alone Remus! I left and that's that! Please. Just stop." Janus got quieter and quieter.
Patton's pov
He could hear Janus whimpering. Patton knew it was probably cold. Patton wanted comfort him from whatever bad dream he was having but it felt weird. Like how it was when Janus first slept in his bed. Like it was still a stranger. Are the feelings really fading?
