But Janus' feelings for Patton faded again. He knew where he belonged. As a dark side and with Virgil. But Virgil had other plans.
Janus was in the living room when Virgil popped up. He looked sad. "Did they hurt you? Are you alright?" Janus asked. Virgil looked at him. "We need to break up."
Janus stopped. His world spun. But it also felt like time stopped. "Wh-what?" He choked on his words and couldn't speak. "I said, we need to break up. I've been accepted." Virgil refused to look at Janus. "B-but we can still be together!" Janus said. "No. I'm going to live with them. We won't see each other and I'll be a light side." Virgil said. Janus was mad. "So you're gonna leave the perfect life you have here for them!? You make me ssick." Janus hissed. "The moment you get accepted you stop loving me?! Is that how this works!? Or was I just to fill a void!?" Janus cried. But he couldn't say much about filling a void. Because he used Virgil for the same use once. But he did like Virgil now.
"Of course I loved you!" Virgil finally looked Janus in the eyes. He looked hurt. "Then why are you leaving!?" Janus yelled. Remus slowly slid into the room. "Because there's nothing for me here! I have a better opportunity!" Virgil was also crying. "You have NO loyalty do you!? What if you got a better chance then that! Would you leave those idiots too!?" Janus wanted to die. Virgil calmed down. "There is no what ifs here Jan. I'm leaving at that's that." Virgil said. Janus was breathing heavily. "Don't Jan me. It's Deceit. Now get out before you can't." Janis growled. Virgil stepped back a little. "You wouldn't hurt me. Would you?" Virgil said in disbelief. "You wanna test that?" Janus turned around. Virgil ran away quickly.
Janus tried to stay strong but his legs collapsed beneath him. Remus ran to him. "Hey hey, it's okay. We don't need traitors in our life." Remus said. Janus was desperate. Two important people were already gone. Janus kissed Remus. And again. Remus didn't pull away. Janus did though. He held Remus' hand and fell into his chest. Will anyone in my life stay?
Patton's pov
Patton welcomed Virgil with open arms. "I'm finally rid of Deceit and the duke." Virgil sighed. Roman smiled a little. Logan groaned. "Well, welcome to the family Virgil!" Patton hugged the emo. "Heh. Thanks. I will admit it was hard to let go of people who were your friends." Virgil said. "Why would you be friends with them?" Roman said. Patton and Virgil looked at each other. They both knew why they would be friends with them. Especially Janus.
Patton did flood Virgil with questions about Janus. Virgil tried really hard to not leak about them dating. "Was he nice?" Patton asked. Virgil nodded. "Did he date Remus?" Patton asked. Virgil froze. "Uh I dunno. Now that I'm gone they might." Virgil said. Logan was bothered by that for some reason. Patton was as well. Why? He shouldn't care. He would be happy for his friend.
Janus' pov
He started to date Remus a few weeks after. He had a hard time getting over Virgil. Janus looked at himself from his mirror in his room. "Will I ever be satisfied?" He said to himself. Because he didn't feel as happy with Remus. And he felt bad. Because he knew that Remus liked him. A lot. But Janus just couldn't get over Virgil. And even Patton. "Gah! Stop thinking about Patton! It's been years! Twenty-two to be exact! Stop it! You two stopped being friends forever ago! You only have one friend and lover now. And that's Remus." Janus threw his hat across the room. But he started to feel better all of a sudden. Remus. He did love Remus. He wasn't just attention starved. "Hm. Weird. One thought of Remus and I feel better." Janus said. He was feeling a lot better. Odd but Janus didn't hate it. "I love Remus." He said to himself again.
Patton smiled from outside the door. "Be happy with Remus."
Janus went up to Remus a few moments later. "Hey." He said. Remus looked at him. "Oh uh, hi." He said. "Just wanted to say that I love you." Janus smiled. Remus smirked in confusion. "Uh, love you too?" He said, unsure. Remus couldn't tell if he was being tested or not. Janus noticed. "I'm not trying to trick you, I promise." Janus said happily. Remus let out a sigh of relief.
"Ugh Patton? Why can't you and Logan just date already?" Roman asked. Logan pushed up his glasses and looked at Roman, disappointed. "Kiddo, Logan seems to be disgusted with the idea of dating me and I'm not infatuated with the idea." Patton smiled. "But you two would be so cute!" Virgil teased. Logan sighed. "Unlike you Virgil, I don't settle." Logan looked Roman up and down. "How dare you!?" Roman huffed. Logan smiled and went back to his book.
Janus was sad. For some reason. He guessed it was because he had no one to talk to. Remus was out and the light sides were-well-the light sides. Janus also wouldn't dare go near the mind palace now. Because of Virgil and all that. Janus realized that it was messier break up than he thought. "Well what's done is done. I'll have to confront him one day anyway."
